MM Real Estate Groups

Current sophomore recruiting with a focus on RE groups. Anyone able to provide a better idea of what banks have stronger or weaker groups?

Saw past posts primarily talking about BBs, more wondering about MM banks. Groups I’ve spoken with are basically all REIT advisory, not really ‘REGAL’.

Thanks

There's quite a few MM / EBs covering regal all operating with their own niches.

EBs

EVR: primarily real estate and focusing on secondaries and capital raising.

LAZ: real estate and lodging. They work with both REITs and REPEs

PJT: focused more on gaming and lodging

Moelis: focused more on gaming and lodging and niche RE asset classes

MMs

HL: focused more on real estate and real estate services businesses. They do a mix of restructuring, capital raising and M&A work

Baird: Focused on real estate and do secondaries and REPE platform sales. Some limited work with REITs mainly on the capital raising side (e.g. issuing ATMs)

Jefferies: Focused both on gaming and real estate. Strong in gaming from what I hear but recently added MDs covering real estate

Piper: they work a lot with the pubfin team and advise on some lodging deals

Truist: Mainly work with smaller REITs and non-traded REITs doing capital raising

RBC: Work a lot with both REITs and sponsors. heard this is a strong group.

Other Banks (e.g. Santander, Mizuho, SMBC etc): work with both sponsors, REITs and private owners but focus more on levfin / dcm and corporate banking
