Nomura First-Round Interview – No Available Slots

Hi everyone,

I recently received an invitation for a first-round interview with Nomura for their 2026 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program in SF. However, when I logged into the application portal, I noticed that all the interview slots were already full. I reached out to the recruiter, and she acknowledged my email but has not yet responded with a solution.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do they typically open more slots later, or should I continue following up? Any advice on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not uncommon for interview slots to fill up quickly, especially for competitive programs like Nomura's Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program. Here’s how you can handle this situation:

  1. Follow Up Politely but Persistently: Since the recruiter has acknowledged your email, give them a couple of business days to respond. If you don’t hear back, send a polite follow-up email reiterating your interest in the program and asking if additional slots will be made available.

  2. Be Flexible with Availability: Mention in your follow-up that you’re open to any time slot that becomes available, even on short notice. This shows your eagerness and flexibility.

  3. Leverage Networking: If you have any connections at Nomura or know alumni who have gone through the process, reach out to them for advice or to see if they can provide any insights into how the situation might be resolved.

  4. Monitor the Portal Regularly: Sometimes, candidates cancel or reschedule their interviews, which can free up slots. Keep checking the portal for any updates.

  5. Prepare for Alternatives: In case the recruiter doesn’t respond or no slots open up, be prepared to ask if there are alternative arrangements, such as a phone or virtual interview at a later date.

Nomura has been known to accommodate candidates in similar situations, so staying proactive and professional in your communication is key. Good luck!
