Sounds like the worst situation - terrible hours and a bad boss. Start making the move now:
Go directly to all BB/MM/Boutique websites and search for ER roles
Contact alumni at other banks and inquire about ER opportunities. They can give your resume a push.
Get in touch with headhunters for lateral ER roles
Alternatively, try and move internally to a different ER team. Internal moves are not uncommon. Speak to the ER business manager and keep your ears open for potential openings
I would stick with your gig until you lock something down.
Well all-nighters are frequent, I've done 4 consecutive all nighters during earnings season (i.e. in the office at 6AM sleep at 5AM back in at 7 the next day).. often times i am leaving anywhere from 5-10 hours after the last other associate on the team leaves.
my life is miserable, im not a drinker but ive started to drink, smoke & do prostitutes just anything to get myself away from the reality.. used to be an all around athlete, haven't hit the gym in months .. my friends are quite worried about me . the only thing that is goin for me is that im likely the highest paid ER associate on the street - however as mentioned my life has gone to $hit

I lol'd at the part about hookers. Drinking and drugs definitely don't help (speaking from experience on that one). Definitely start looking around. Are you open to moving to NYC, if so that would likely make the search easier.
That's definitely not normal, your lifestyle sounds like dogshit. Look around at other shops, good advice has already been given in this thread. I've been trying to get out of my current location too, but it's really hard if you're outside of NYC/SF. Tap your network and see what your options are.
I'd do just about everything other have said-look for other jobs any way possible, network, talk internally to whomever you need to switch, be open to relocation (if you're not in NYC in general or SF for tech or Chicago there probably are not a ton of options at other companies BC there are not too many other companies), MBA however I'm assuming 6 months into the job means first job out of school (?) which will be more difficult for an MBA, etc.
Do you have a background or education that led to them hiring you for 20k more than they pay others? Something like you are a former e&p oil engineer or have an advanced bio/chem degree so an oil or biotech focused guy wanted you? If so play that to your advantage and go somewhere else. Or does the firm realize the guy's just an ass and his subordinates need to be paid more or they'll leave after a week?
Be careful not to bad mouth the guy though, internally if you go that route or to the outside world while you're interviewing or even working.
That's f'ed up. Sounds like a truepsycho. I'd work hard on lining something else up asap then. In banking/PE you have long hours and some assholes but I've never heard of something that extreme, and at least the long hours are typically spent with peers so at least you get to commiserate and you know that guys at other firms are doing the same thing. I'm not a pus*y, this is finance so you get beat up more than other industries and I'd never thought of recommending this, but you might want to talk to HR. It could go either way and blow up in your face but that's beyond just working someone hard.
I think you are dealing with a true psychopath!!!. I would run as soon as possible. Since you went to a target school and have great credentials, quit! I promise you'll feel much better for it! Think about it.. you've made all of this money, but probably haven't had the chance to spend it? Go relax, take a 2-3 month vacation and start the job search.
OMG your boss seems a little similar to mine (except she doesn't force me to work non-stop)...but she's kind a biatch....get outta there...there's more to life then that hole (even if it pays amazing).....trust me on this life's too short for that kinda crap...hope you get better pal.. :)
Did some digging into her social media account - found out she has basically no friends & lives in isolation with her husband (They're FOBs)... also did a FINRA broker check.. damn her experience is exagerrated and not even good, and she was also unemployed and moved aroud quite a lot after ugrad and actually got BO out of undergrad.
damn I am fkin Out!!
DUE DILLIGENCE FOR THE WIN.. THANKS FINRA FOR PROTECTING ME
It's good that you've recognized you need to leave and are gonna start looking around, but there's no reason to chastise your boss. Who cares what she did after her undergrad, she's your boss now.

If you hate your boss and the hours don't seem great might want to start looking around.

Go get an MBA. Maybe you'll enjoy and refresh for the 2 years.
How did you end up at this job?

Hookers and choke your boss in the same sentence. I'd leave before you do something stupid. (just kidding)
