Yes. I'll get downvoted for this, but by asking these types of questions, it doesn't sound like you're ready for recruiting just yet

I study merger model and LBO technicals everyday, read about tech M&A, and try to keep up with industry trends.

If I had a nickel for every time a person said that then went BO.

You should probably network with other bankers before you reach out to Q. I have a feeling you may mess your chances up if you talk to them immediately.

Intern for what, sophomore janitorial services/GS Insight? I'm gonna call cap unless you are: one shitposting or two attending a top target and have low EQ.

What type of answer did you expect given your post.

"Lol Hurr DUrR lemme hook you up with Q, never seen a research intern read about tech or study a merger model before."

No. I got my BB IBD internship spring/early summer of my freshmen year. I never had to network. I got a superday through a diversity program. Now, as I recruit for junior year, I am looking for guidance, not someone telling me I am going BO, which obviously is not true.

oh ok then, HUrr DurR lemme hoook you up with Q.

If you really wanted help you should've put in a little more effort to seem serious about your situation besides titling your post "Q fiend" and asking randoms to hook it up.

However, I do better understand your situation. I can't comment on diversity programs offered by Q, as it's a pretty small company in comparison to the EB/BBs, but there's probably something there.

Also as mentioned by others, you're gonna most likely have to network to get in, although in the past ik of people with BB/EB sophomore IB internships who have gotten interviews just through their application. This may no longer be the case considering how competitive Q has gotten over the years and the saturation of IB. Note that a lot of schools don't even get their applications, mine sure didn't.

The best thing for you to do at this moment would really be connecting with individuals/alumni who are at Q. Really explain your situation about how you're gonna be interning at so and so BB but really wanted to transition working into tech coverage. Asking connections to hold onto Resumes is fine, it's industry practice at this point (usually done at the end of calls). Realize a lot of people won't respond, but this is not a reason to shotgun blast emails to everyone at the firm (this could actually get you ghosted).

If u had to ask this question then u have no shot. U sound like the type of person that just looked at wso and saw how good the firm is and the pay. Then u make a shitty post.
