Shit pay

What is your definition (or WSO's definition) of shit pay in IB?

Let's start with the Analysts but any one is welcome to share their opinion. What is your "if my bonus isn't this i'm fucking leaving" number? Then what's your "hm I guess I could plow through 80 hour weeks for another year" number?

What all in range is considered shit, what range is average/expected and lastly what range is good?

Cheers

I am assuming this was an analyst position at a boutique IB. Was it in NYC? are you from target/semi-target? Last question: what was the process like switching from a boutique to a larger firm?

I worked at a dog shit boutique for a year on $75k base. They told me my bonus would be 1-2x base. My bonus was $20k lmao. Fuck that place. I immediately started recruiting and now have a much better banking gig. Mind you, this was when all the base raises were happening and my friends were getting paid an extra 40-50k in base. It was so fucking miserable. Total first world problem, but $75k isn’t jack shit in NYC. Would not recommend.

lol canadian boutique investment bankers (analyst and associate) be making under $C130k all-in - that's shit bad enough to make me want to do something else with better hours at least.
