I have around 20 silver bananas to give. Please don't post unless you really got offers already - I want this to be a good resource to those applying and wondering what their shot is at getting offers. If I track your other posts and it's clear you have never gotten an offer from an IB, I'll monkey shit you.

Keep in mind I was an SA over last summer and ultimately accepted their offer to return as FT but did some other interviews (all for S&T) as well this fall.

Hope this helps!

yeah, for ib, i usually get a first and final round invite. it's been like that since soph year undergrad, but my ratio has been improving over the years. it used to be about 80% conversion rate for resume drop to 1st round and 1st round to final round. this past year its pretty much 100%

Best Response

I'll give it a go but I'm in the UK

Education level: MSc , BSc Target/Non-target: UK Target GPA level: Good Major: Finance and Econs Prior related internship experience: Yes Level of Networking: Medium/Low Type of job applied to: IBD FT

of BB applications/1st round interviews/offers: 12/4/0 of Boutique applications/1st round interviews/offers: 5/3/2

Edit: Wow, I was just reading the other responses, you guys in the US make awfully low number of applications. In the UK everyone fills applications for everything. When I mention 12 BBs above I mean the following GS, MS, Citi, Barcap, CS, UBS, DB, HSBC, BAML, BNPP, RBS, JEF (sure JEF is MM, don't give me grief for that). 5 Boutiques are Greenhill, Rothschild, Lazard, Moelis and Evercore.

N.B. Ultimately I accepted one of the BB offers. My biggest help in interview was the tech guide from this site and BIWS.

What is the difference between a "medium" and "good" gpa? Wouldn't it be better for people to list what they listed as the GPA on their resume? Or at least a range?

the offer I got was from a firm where they had a list of current staff. one was from my school, so I emailed the person asking if they had a few minutes free time to talk about their firm. this unexpectedly turned into a 2 on 1 full blown phone interview. 2 weeks later, got invited to their superday, and I got the offer the following morning. networking works. there is also unfortunately a great deal of luck involved in the recruitment process.
