Skills required in S&T and skills required in M&A
Hi,
I just wanted to know:
- What are the main skills required to work in those two areas?
Also, why is it better to get a STEM degree instead of an econ/finance one? I can understand how a degree in operational research might be useful, but I definitely don't see how does a physics major prepare you to work in finance...
Thanks :-)
for ibd- attention to detail, financial modeling skills, written&oral communication skills, and strong work ethic.
Honestly, the tendency to learn, NEVER making the same mistake multiple times, and persistence (I mean fucking yoda patience), ride the rough tide, and never complain.
For S&T - watch the trader documentary about PTJ at least 5 times and train yourself to not need to go to the bathroom during market hours
S&T: being able to handle 3 phones (clients) at the same time
Performing due diligence on your own...
Trading is alpha.
IBD is beta.
right on the money

S&T is a fuckin shit show from when you get in until you leave. Requires patience, super focus, and being able to think very quickly under pressure.
