Where to indicate 'TA' on resume?

Hi everyone,
where on my resume should I indicate that I'm a TA for Financial Accounting? I'm a sociology major and feel like this is a crucial part of indicating my interest in finance
thanks!

Where should 'Teacher Assistant' Go On A Resume

Deciding how to organize a resume can be overwhelming. There are a couple of options when determining where to put your Teacher Assistant experience.

One option is to put the experience under the activities section. As a bullet in the education section is also appropriate.

Wall Street Oasis offers a number of resume templates to get you started.

It should fall under the EDUCATION section, even though it's not part of the major. (It's still school-related but not really a "job." Research assistant, on the other hand, is an actual role.) However, if you don't have much experience on your resume, I suppose you can add it as a separate item under the EXPERIENCE category. But I would recommend that ONLY if you're desperate for an experience item.

Also, how much financial accounting did you get to pick up while serving as TA? Did you also happen to take the course itself? The reason I ask is, being a TA doesn't signal that much interest. People know TAs (not to be confused with graduate student instructors) basically do administrative work and exam proctoring but don't necessarily have anything to do with the subject matter.

Reviving the thread, if anyone sees this in the trending page, what would you put under TA? I was thinking of writing a couple bullets detailing what I do, but I am not sure on what would be considered better for this extracurricular. Any thoughts?

Also, I am TA in Micro class, and will do TA in Corporate Finance, would you list both of them?

I TAed several semesters in college and I definitely don’t list every class I’ve been a TA for, since it would look repetitive. Pick the class closest to the job (for example, I emphasized an experience I had teaching R, since the position I was applying to required quant/software skills). Generally I stick to two bullet points and usually talk about holding study sessions, grading, leading lectures, and the actual content of the class I might have helped teach, especially if it’s relevant to the job. At the end of the day, the job of a TA doesn’t align perfectly with a job in industry, but it can show good leadership skills and that you’re reliable and trustable with authority (i.e. the professor you worked for). It’s definitely never been looked down upon in interviews as a meaningless experience or anything.

I think it depends on the amount of experience you have. If you have 2-3+ real jobs, put the TA experience with student organization type stuff. If you lack real experience, include it with jobs.
