Where do you guys buy your furniture
Need to get some furniture for my apartment. Any suggestions for online or physical (NYC) stores.

I used Crate & Barrel - but it's more pricy. I guess that's the advantage of Chicago cost of living and rent. For example, no broker fee's here!
IKEA is good - I'm of the belief it doesn't last too long though so I stopped buying it after college.
Macy's also has some pretty good stuff.

Thanks for the heads up on Raymour & Flanigan. They seem to be everywhere in NYC. I had no idea they have such a bad rep.
Incidentally, I hope that the moderator reverses all these turds and give no credit refund to the individuals who dished them out. Actions like these may seem funny to some college sophomores but they can actually discourage people from being helpful and giving out advices, which is counter-productive to the purpose of this forum.

Setting myself up for monkey shit, I bought most of mine from CB2. A little more expensive but I like the look better and it felt at least a little higher quality vs. the IKEA stuff I saw.
Keetsa is perfect for an inexpensive but great mattress (and is eco-friendly and local to NYC if you're into that sort of thing), and on Etsy you can find some really unique and inexpensive decorative items. Gilt Home also has some very good sales every now and then where you can get more "designer" style home goods for much cheaper, especially bedding.
I 2nd CB2, only if you're into more modern furniture. 75% of my furniture and other houseware is from there. If you're contemporary, go to Crate & Barrel, West Elm or Pottery Barn
Depends for what you are looking for.
When I graduated from college (and was very poor) I went straight to IKEA and furnished my apartment for ~$500 (bed, desk, dining table & chairs, etc). So if you are just looking to furnish an apartment and don't plan on keeping the furniture for too long then IKEA is a good bet. But be warned, the furniture will not last, I threw mine away in 18-24 months.
Now I buy furniture from several different places (macys, west elm, pottery barn, and a couple of boutiques). But this is furniture I plan to keep for 10+ years. More expensive, but definitely better quality.
Like I said, it just depends on what you are looking for.

If you want something a little classier than Ikea, you can try Park Home Furnishings, and it's not too expensive.
You can sometimes find great deals at ABC Furniture in Union Sq when they have a sale.

There's nothing cheaper than CL or ikea, besides stuff you move from home. Anything you buy in Manhattan will be expensive. If you have a way to make it out to NJ, some furniture stores there will deliver to Manhattan. Get a bedframe/mattress from Sleepy's clearance.
Not sure if this is doable or cheaper in NYC but you can always go through one of the rental companies until you get settled.
Don't forget Ebay. Bought a 19th century Normandy Bed that looks like it came from a murder-mystery for three figures. Good luck finding that at an antiques store.
JCP is also often reasonably priced, but you have to pay for shipping. (Good news is they deliver to your apartment- you don't have to carry anything.)
Head out to Queens, there are a bunch of department stores (think Macy's / JCP) that carry furniture. And there's always those Sleepy's / Mattress Giant type stores.
Wander around outside NYU student housing at the end of their spring semester...you can probably find some free stuff.

Crate and Barrel. There's one on Madison and on Broadway I think. They have delivery and I'm fairly sure you can purchase on credit. Not too expensive but solid modern furniture.

Agree with above. Crate and Barrel and IKEA are good options, although I would say IKEA is generally cheaper (both in price and quality) relative to Crate and Barrel.

This place SitDownNY has pretty nice stuff for the money. It's a bit more expensive than the above-mentioned brands, but not brutal (not sure what your exact price range is) and it is definitely higher quality. Their showroom is downtown and they deliver in 1 to 2 weeks. Very convenient. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them. Here's the link:

I am not interested in cheap furniture for my home but love to find eco-friendly budget price because I love wood, and I know wooden furniture are the best eco-friendly.

My $2mm house looks like an IKEA showroom: bed, desk, dressers, chairs, table, etc. We just moved a lot of the furniture from our apartment to our condo, and then when we bought a house the furniture was still in good shape after 10 years, so we moved it all over rather than throw things out. I just don't "get" interior design and frankly my wife doesn't either. I literally look at these two desks and can't appreciate the difference:

It's some wood and drawers, what do you want your desk to say about you? I'll pocket the $1,300 thanks.
Totally get what you're saying (e.g. both desks will get the job done), but in this case: one is made of stained pine/fiberboard, the other solid walnut and walnut veneer. That's not even close. And they are definitely not on the same level aesthetically--the walnut desk has a far more elegant design. There's a reason one is $1K+ more than the other.
I'm not a Crate and Barrel fan (I prefer bespoke or smaller craftsman style furniture makers if I'm going to spend the money), and I actually own a couple IKEA pieces that have held together well and are utilitarian workhorses in the household, but these two pieces of furniture you shared are night and day in terms of quality and aesthetics.
But like I said, I get what you're saying. If you don't really care about design or having it last generations, there's no reason to spend the extra dough.
The west elm by my place has an insane sale section, usually >50% off. Much higher quality than ikea stuff. For ex. I got a 12x10 rug for $150…
Facebook market place has been extremely kind to me for furniture over the years. Got some amazing second had pieces which I used for a couple of years and then actually sold for more than I originally paid for it!
