Italy is the current world champion. Spain is the current European champion. Greece is the previous European champion (WTF?) Even we drew against the US in the first match.

Your argument, Sir, FAILS.

And Portugal has Cristiano Ronaldo...

dacasaleThe Germans are going nowhere. In the last Euro Cup Spain gave them what they deserved in their fucking face (in Germany), and someone else will put them in their place once again this time round. Those square-faces lack football creativity, probably because they have used it all in disguising their real unemployment rate and stagnant economy.
Did your girlfriend cheat on you with a German guy or something? Get a life, this is just football.

Got nothing against Germany (in fact, I'd love to spend some time in Munich, it's one of the best cities around, period), but your last line is way off.

Football is never just football.

I think some of the comments here missed the point....

Someone needs to explain the joke to them.... you know the fact that he was tying their initial world cup 2010 performance to the turn in their economic performance?....wow

I wonder if Spain's spreads went up on anticipated depression from choking so hard.

GoodBreadNorth Korea's unique regime makes their team pretty unpredictable.

I was half expecting Kim Jong Il to suit up.

Word on the street is that German players will now go to a central team, and will then be sent out to the Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and Greek teams on an as-needed basis.

staying in financial terms...I would short Greece, Italy and France and go long on Germany, Spain and of course The Netherlands! USA will also make it to the quarter finals I think it's time for americans to start playing soccer instead of football;)

Watched the world cup for 5 minutes. Could understand why a swarm of bee's had attacked the tournament. Then I found out it was a stupid horn that makes people deaf.

Yup, last 5 minutes of that shit I watched.

@moneyneversleeps2: You do realize there you only get 3 games to prove yourself........ and a loss for Spain to Switzerland...or the inability to win against a rather weak team in general is a near death sentence in such a cut-and-dry group stage.

And are you taking the world cup-economic comparison literally?... a "bad example"?.. it's trading floor wit. Try and keep up

LOL so true.

This video is completely unrelated but also hilarious.

Seriously lol, if an associate circulated that on the desk... is this really his response: "Nobody cares if you suck in the beginning as long as you don't suck when it matters. So what if the PIGS teams aren't doing well in the beginning. The only victory that counts is the victory on July 11th so comparing the world cup to a struggling economy is a bad example."

you really need to lighten up, acknowledge the allusion, laugh it off and move on... but from your sensitivity, you're probably Italian. Must be tough with such an aged team who makes up for it by doing the following:

hehe lighten up!

J15Hey look! North Korea had an inspiring performance, according the OP, their economy must be taking off?

Maybe its economic or military strength... in which case it could be literally taking off.

Very good comments here.

Yeah, N. Korea has nuclear power. Brazil hasn't. And who knows what physical treatments await the N. Korean players if they loose? Motivation is everything.

Oh, and Vuvuzelas seriously could use a ban. It must be even more painful and unsettling for the players. I simply don't put my headphones on, and just watch the mute TVs on my floor.

I'm actually rooting for Brasil although I'm not sure how far a Ronaldinho-less team will go. I was impressed with Ghana and Nigeria. Considering they don't have the same resources (equipment, staff, facilities) as say Germany or France, I think they are handling themselves pretty well against the big dogs. LOL @ at the "real" traders comment. This is an anonymous blog. Anyone can use some fancy lingo they just looked up and be a trader.

Ronaldinho isn't what he used to be. He just led Serie A in assists, but his goal production is way down. He peaked in 06-07 w/ 25 goals for Barca, which is the total amount he has for Milan at this point (2 seasons). He's still pretty good, but definitely not needed (for Brazil), especially considering how injury-prone he is nowadays.

@moneyneversleeps2....In all seriousness, this forum is a lot less anonymous than you would think. Sure it's anonymous if your only a high school or college kid, but look back at the posts from weeks and months gone by and you'll be able to tell pretty easily who's really where and some people have been more comfortable about revealing details.

You want me to prove it?

Some of the guys who've posted high quality posts in the trading forum, I know exactly where to find them:

For example (in 2 months)

If I want to find Revsly, I walk up to 11 madison avenue, go to the front desk and ask for Larry Pregiato-Director of FX Trading, and he'll point me in the direction of his new analyst from Georgetown.

If I want to find CreditDerivatives, I head across to 1585 Broadway, go to the front desk and ask for Steve Bayardelle-- Director of Equity Derivatives and he'll point me in the direction of his new analyst from Stanford.

So yes, I can't tell who you are if your currently a sophomore at XYZ university, but there are certain ways to find certain people if they've obtained full-time employment.

As for me, well take a look at my posts and you'll know where to find me. Come down to 60 wall street, ask for Brian McConville-FX Director (our actual head is in naturally in London), and ask for the former analyst/new associate from UChicago.

This might be a little much to post on the internet. Just saying. I don't want to tell you what to do but I'm sure anyone on LinkedIn or anyone working at one of these firms (I happen to work at one and discovered the identity of one of you in about 14 seconds) can easily find you guys.
