Anthos Capital?
Has anybody heard about their reputation? It was started by some former Goldman guys, and they keep a pretty low profile. I can't find any other info on them.

I know someone there. Generalist late stage growth equity / VC with a sourcing-intensive junior model. They provide solid training, but after that I think the expectations are pretty high. As mentioned above, intentionally low profile
Somewhat sharp-elbowed group. They like to find an edge by investing in deals where others won’t (i.e., hairier growth deals). At one point they had some capital set aside for effectively a “sin fund”, which ended up letting them look at things like cannabis when a lot of funds wouldn’t touch it.
Can’t speak for returns, but they’ve crushed fundraising.

Why do they have so many interns? Kinda seems absurd.
Where are you seeing all the interns? From LinkedIn? Anthos offers a play testing “internship” but it’s not really an internship. You join their discord and you get access to exclusive video game launches/betas/alphas. They have a ton of college students in this playtesting program so that’s why you might see a bunch of kids say they’re interns on LinkedIn.
Oh that makes sense.
TLDR: Not a prestigious firm, inside and out.
I did an internship at Anthos because I was eager to try VC and saw their application on LinkedIn.
If you Google "top VC firms in SoCal" or even just "VC firms in SoCal", Anthos does not show up on any reputable lists, or really any lists at all. Even with a low profile, a successful firm would be recognized, but Anthos does not show up. That alone should tell you a lot.
On the inside, they are a sweatshop and do not care for their employees. And this culture bleeds through: the employees do not care for each other. Very snakey and frankly just bad environment. For instance, my manager stole my work multiple times without crediting me or looping me in. "Sourcing-intensive junior model" is a nice way to put it, but the truth is they treat all their junior employees like sourcing monkeys (just scrape mass lists, Sourcescrub, LinkedIn Sales Nav, etc.) with no regard for their personal value or intellect. They put zero effort into mentorship. Senior management was super removed despite the firm being on the smaller side (< 100 employees). Won't disclose specifics on their returns, but it was nothing to write home about.
They go out of their way to chase hairier deals because they have no competitive edge when it comes to most deals. They love to flaunt Emily White's name, but a name alone is nothing.
Anthos is not a great option, in my opinion.
