Barclays Sophomore Springboard Event

Hey all, I'm just starting a thread to discuss the Barclays Sophomore Springboard program.

I applied for it online on February 26th, and had a phone interview on Monday, the 20th.

Has anyone been officially invited?

it did seem like an automated response, but could it be possible that they're doing it by division? i interviewed with a trader while other people i know interviewed with bankers and were asked about that

I interviewed around the 3/22, but I was invited to interview that day. I agree with @zsdvnm1" it seems like they're doing them manually. I'd expect everyone to hear back by Friday or Monday

Do ya'll think this event helps with recruiting in the fall? I know they offer a mentor, but can anyone speak about the mentor-mentee relationship and how they're paired? I was accepted to the program for females but I didn't have a phone interview.

Hey guys, don't get too down on your luck if you didn't get an invite. I didn't either, and I figure that if you devote a few hours to it every week, there's no reason why you can't find a mentor at 10 banks between now and recruiting season this Fall. Reach out to alumni, schedule phone calls with them to indicate your interest, and then plan your own networking trip over the summer to meet them all for coffee in the span of 2-3 days. If you're nice and genuine about it, I don't see why at least 2-3 of them wouldn't give you a solid referral during recruitment.

While that may be true to a certain extent, you're certainly not blacklisted from Barclays for life or anything. You have 6 months until real SA 2018 recruiting starts, with an entire summer to gain experience and build up your resume. Think hard about your biggest weaknesses, fix them, and find an internship for this summer that will make you a more competitive candidate during recruitment.

Those who got an invitation for this event probably are probably better candidates than you are right now. That doesn't mean they will be in 6 months, and the fact that they got into this event may give them the idea that they can somehow slack off this summer and not intern.

By the time Fall rolls around and real interviews with 8-hour superdays start, a solid internship sophomore summer internship + a ton of networking will prove to be more valuable than a two-day networking event at one bank.

I cannot be sure. But I had my interview on the 20th, and my interviewer said the phone interviews were more of a screening than a phone interview. "Just to make sure you aren't crazy before we invite you". Lol I thought mine went really well, and the people on here who said invites were sent out seem to be referring to the female program on the 13th. Unless I am mistaken. I texted a friend who works there and will update this thread when I hear back.
