Citi Investment Banking Superday

Hey, I have a Citi IBD Final Round super day coming up in a few weeks. Does anyone have any advice for me? What questions can I expect? How was the first investment banking Super Day that was held in December?

Thanks.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ i bet your friend didn't get the job

for my first ever interview i talked about van halen the entire 30 mins, thought i'd gotten on very well with the interviewer. lo and behold, i got dinged.

I had my on campus last Friday. Also talked to some alum at the group before hand. *) Be cool: don't ramble, be terse & to the point ^^^ don't talk about VH & Steelers for 15 min. *) They are going to try to get you on bs in your resume, so if you can't back something up on the fly take it off. *) They will ask technicals if you claim some sort of finance background, so know your three parts of the balance sheet blah blah. *) Say how much you want a global experience, they're amped on that for some reason.

PM me if you want any other dets

CLASSIC!

I've got nothing against Citi, but this was too funny to pass up.

I attended the IBD Superday in October. Three interviews, one interviewer responsible for a different topic:

First--> Standard technical questions mixed in with thoughts about macro events (where do you see the economy heading, etc..)

Second--> Behavioral; had a set of questions that he had to ask (how do you judge your success thus far in life, etc). As well as walk through resume.

Third--> Seemed to focus on "why citi" and other general banking/business questions (in your opinion rank the importance of innovative products, etc to customers). I'll echo the above statement regarding the "global" aspect of Citi here like the above poster said; interviewer seemed to focus on that.

All in all, not bad and not too different from first round (though my first round was a lot more technical fire/answer format than my superday).

Good luck

When was the first-round?

What school do you go to @greensboro? Target, semi-target, non-target? When was the first round? on-campus or on your own networking efforts?

From friday? a guy ik there told me im waitlisted and offers went out.

yea i got the offer friday afternoon, not sure if im gunna take it tho. Citi culture sucks, i have a buddy that summered there and he hated it

I think the above post is right on. Definitely know how to answer the "why Citi" question; emphasize the bank's international presence. For my Citi Superday I read the Mergeres & Inquisitions 200 Q&A for IBD interviews. I can honestly say it is the best guide out there that I found, so I highly recommend you get it.

In the end, though, you need to have great communication skills with your interviewers and feel confident when answering the questions. Regardless of how many guides you read, you only improve your interviewing skills through practice. So definitely schedule a mock interview or practice with a buddy before you travel.

Good luck.

can't be ibd questions

It's the same as any other interview you have as a junior. Know all current events, know financial markets and economic news, know recent deal and m&a, have 2 long and 2 short ideas, be able to walk through your story in 30 sec., be able to talk about anything you put in your résumé, have a strong pitch why S&T, why sales vs. trading without seeming to stubborn on one, which products you prefer and why, how does a y of your experience make you a good candidate for S&T.

Not really sure what the purpose of this question is. Whether its Citi, GS, JP, etc. it's all the same.

Know the following: dcf, comps, any technicals on ur resume, basics of ur deals, economics, some thoughts on current market conditions, simple way to explain what bankers do

if it is a first round, it should basically be 30 mins. why u, why banking, why Citi, and as the above poster said the citi business model.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

I PMed you... and I have a general offer for any students currently interviewing for BB positions - if you PM me the name of your interviewers, I can send you some information that can help you get the position; strategy has worked well for me in the past.

My Citi interview was one of the more technical ones, that was on par with Lazard and GS (for non targets that is)

The Citi girl went into bonds quite a bit (for an IBD spot), but did the normal ring around with DCF, comparables and general valuation questions.

I would just prepare as much as you can technically, and hopefully your fine on the fit part (comes naturally I think...)

Congrats on having an interview in this environment though...

How many different threads did you just start? One for each interview? Have you thought of searching?

"I'm not sure what the four 9's do, but the ace, I think, is pretty high."

i have an offer, thanks. and it's an anonymous forum, moron. it's a great idea.

does anyone here understand the concept of a joke? christ i could not imagine sitting with a douche like slicksac in the office, do people like him really get hired? lol

I could not imagine sitting with a douche like LucaBrasi_got_WACCed who overreacts to a simple piece of insight.

They extended an offer to 3 people of the ~40 kids who interviewed. Apparently, decisions were made on Friday and those who did get an offer were notified yesterday.
