Does anybody know where I can find a comprehensive list of New York based hedge funds? Preferably grouped by investment strategy and AUM? Many thanks.

www.graypools.com has a pretty good list of just about every fund
If you give me an idea of type of hedge fund (strategy) and an AUM range I can post some here.
Could you list New York Hedge Funds under 2B AUM with a value strategy?

Hello everyone,
I am looking to apply to hedge funds in NY. So far I have come across this list http://richard-wilson.blogspot.com/2008/05/hedge-funds-in-new-york.html however it is pretty small. I can think of many hedge funds that are NYC based and not included in that list.
I was very grateful for that list of NYC boutiques taken from Capital IQ which was posted here, I was hoping someone here can do the same for NYC hedge funds.
thanks!
Hedge funds is a very losely defined term and there really is a sliding scale. at the lowest level a "hedge fund" can be a $100,000 fund managed by a guy in his brooklyn studio, made of his neighbor's investments.
by that minimum definition there are probably hundreds of thousands of hedge funds in nyc.
maybe you should ask for funds with AUM>$100M or something.
p.s.- you're wasting your time.
agree with the above...
what kind of strategy to you want to work on? do you even know what a hedge fund is? suggest starting at a more basic level
yesman I know what a hedge fund is.. I dealt with hundreds of them when I worked at MS. I don really have a preference but Multi-strategy ones AUM>100m would be fine.
I think maybe you can try the library or the yellow book
I'm not going to list AUM for all of them, but if you have a specific one that you'd like AUM I can probably find it for you.

Hedge fund companies in new york (Originally Posted: 05/13/2010)
Dear,
I am a Business Administration (Msc) student at a Dutch university. As I am finalizing my study, I am seeking for opportunities to follow an internship and write my final dissertation at a New York based Hedge Fund. I am particularly interested in global macro, equity long/short, and multi-strategy hedge funds, due to the fact that those strategies suit me the most. I created a database with addresses, names, AUM, etc. But the problem is that these are only the major hedge funds in New York. Thus, as you may guess, I am searching for hedge funds with AUM betweeen $ 500M and $ 2B (thus something like medium-sized) and I am searching for hedge funds established on Wall Street itself (it does not matter how many AUM these Wall Street hedge funds have).
I hope some person sees this message and is so gentle to provide me some Hedge Fund names, hopefully strategies included, so I can contact these companies and seek for internship opportunities.
Thank you in advance.
Yours sincerely,
Robin
You can see the new start up hedge funds that have launched recently here:

If you click on previous years, you should find HFs that have 500MM-2B under management.
^This.
Not sure how much this will help but,

Thanks a lot SAC and Gekko21. This has really been a help! If anyone has more names and addresses, please let me know.
Robin.
Nobody else? Please, I really need the info.
Thank you in advance.
Here's a list, hope it helps

Hedge Funds In the New York/New Jersey area (Originally Posted: 02/13/2009)
Hi, Can someone provide me with all the Hedge Funds In the New York/New Jersey area, thanks.
That is like asking for a list of all the people in Manhattan
Can anyone provide as many hedge funds as they know of in the New York/New Jersey area.
Your asking for something too specific. Try searching for something more general.
Try using google, there's no way someone is going to bother typing out every hedge fund they can think of
if you have a friend in sales at a bank, ask him for a list. although you def have to be a bit more specific (ie l/s equity, hy debt, hg debt, etc).
Top NY Hedge Funds? (Originally Posted: 01/25/2012)
I'd like to make the jump to hedge fund world from banking. I have some connections out in Greenwich and Stamford with some pretty good firms, but I'd rather stay in the New York City.
What are the best shops in NYC for starting a career? Big vs. Small?
Am I a fool for not working my CT connections? And then maybe make the jump back to NYC in a few years?
Hi rothyman. I'm really interested in global macro and long/short funds, location does not matter. Can you list it if you have time?
That list would be absurdly huge. Give me a location and an AUM range and I'll give you a decent list.
We are updating our entire Company DB for AUM ...as well as adding in a ton more HFs...soon we will allow you to filter by AUM as well.
AUM should be 500M or higher. Location: Texas, NYC, Thanks a lot.

Pretty broad question. What type of funds are you interested in? I assume long-short equity or event-driven? If so, look at perry, och-ziff, york, greenlight, davidson kempner, third point.
Work whatever connections you have... its not a pretty hiring market right now.
yeah, tiger family tree is a good starting point, but its not encouraging
"New York City retains crown as Hedge Fund Hub of the World; Top 100 oversee $350 Billion" - This article looks like a great start, although it's pretty negative about your prospects in Greenwich. Good Luck! http://www.hedgetracker.com/article/New-York-City-retains-crown-as-Hedg…
Just PM you with a list of more than 800 funds in New York with phone, fund manager, strat, etc. It will be a good start!
Hi Alex, could you PM the list? Thank you!
thanks
I'll take the list too if you're offering. Thanks.
Can someone please forward me that list as well?
Can someone please forward me that list as well?
I would appreciate the list as well. Thanks
Can I get the list as well? Thanks in advance.
Did anyone actually get the list? If so could I get a copy?
Why not post it here? I think it's beneficial to the whole community.
I can already see the PMs of funds facepalming when they see the influx of college kid emails asking for jobs.
I'd like the list as well please! Silver banana to the first one who sends it to me (+ one to Alex-G if you got the list from him).
i honestly doubt theres a list now, cuz i still haven't gotten it
For those still in school, go to your school library and see if they have capital IQ and run the search that way.
Hi all, Sorry I did not revert earlier. For funds in NYC: http://www.bankacareer.com/citiesandcountries/new-york/
Company Database is searchable by Industry and location for now....will try to get AUM there for HFs and Asset Management firms.
Here is a list of the top New York Hedge Funds: http://www.hedgetracker.com/article/New-York-Hedge-Funds-Continue-to-Sh…
Can you provide me with a list of HF´s based in Switzerland or Germany, AUM 500M or higher. Thx man !
Only have access to NA hedge funds. However might want to check WSO's directory
Are there any good lists for hedge funds in Switzerland or London? Ideally one that lists area of expertise or strategies?? Thanks
WSO directory or Google maps and search for "hedge fund" or some variation
Not sure why Akman, Einhorn, Paulson, and Simons were left out of that list...
Any database that breaks it out by targeted "area", healthcare in particular?
maybe we can allow you to filter not only by hedge fund but also by company description so you could filter industry hedge fund and company description "healthcare"...woudl that work?
