New Suits Episode **SPOILER ALERT**

**SPOILER ALERT**

What do you guys think about the offer from Tony Gianapolis' right hand guy to join the new firm?

Should Mike accept it?

Is it realistic for a Junior Associate at a law firm to get hired into private equity for a non-legal role in real life?

If you're talented and analytical (i.e., problem solver) people will want to hire you. I have encountered plenty of individuals in banking who worked at law firms for a few years (post-JD). People tend to hire talent (at the junior/mid level). If you have talent, you have talent. It doesn't matter what you studied at school.

I have never understood why people are so hung up on "you have to do A, B, and C in order to get D". There is always a traditional path, but there are more ways than one to achieve something. It all comes down to the individual and what he or she is good at. Moreover, people are always more willing to hire someone they are familiar (or have worked) with.

Disclaimer: I haven't watched this episode, so I have no clue what the circumstances were.

I think he should take it as he has realized that if he keeps being an lawyer, he cannot move up or be given credit for work he does. Like in the promo, Rachael mentions how he lives in fear of being caught (plenty of close calls already). Why not take the gig that is probably going to pay more and get away from a job that could ruin your professional life at a moment's notice?

See, I'm confused about that. I remember the first episode with Gianapolis, the right hand man (forget his name) said "we aren't lawyers, we're investment bankers. We didn't go to Harvard, we went to Wharton." But I think there were some references to their firm being a hedge fund..

So... are/have any of you guys considered law school?

And did you know you don't even need an undergrad to go to law school in certain states? My buddy's a professional poker player in NJ, never went to college, and he just started law school. That's kind of wild.

Pretty much the only law schools worth the money are T14 though, and those definitely require an undergrad education...

He goes to NYU. I don't know anything about law school rankings.

Was just about to start a similar thread, so thanks for the set up! I have a feeling that Mike is going to have an old lady for his Donna... not cool. Also, Scottie is gone damnit. She was so hot.
