As title says.

With Friday Night Lights finished, and Dexter kinda losing its lustre, there's not a lot to watch on TV.

I like The Killing but just cant get into Boardwalk Empire or Game of Thrones.

Yeah, it actually does. Liked the top-rated comment best though. "It looks great, but it's NBC so they'll cancel it before it gets good. They always do."

For me, I'm a fan of a few USA shows: Burn Notice (easy watching, poor scripting at times but fun TV), White Collar, and Royal Pains. Also like Modern Family, and Archer is hilariously irreverent.

I guess favorite" is relative but I'm thinking "best"

Breaking Bad by far

Sons of Anarchy is pretty solid
Mad Men has has peaks and Valleys.

Comedies are great, love Seinfeld more than life, and parks and rec, modern fam, and office when it was good, but I wouldn't categorize any of them as better than a well done dramatic series.

I might have to agree with this entire post. I will add Justified and Archer as good current shows and Dexter season 1 as best season of any tv show ever. I used to hate American Dad, but I find it utterly hilarious now.

Also, different type of program so not in the running for best, but who has seen the Ross Kemp show? That guy is badass!

Really? I thought with Dexter, the seasons go in reverse order in terms of their strengths and how good they were, with Season 4 being fucking awesome. John Lithgow was great.

Havent caught up with Season 5 yet but heard bad things. I suppose its hard to follow up with how they left it at the end of 4.

Entourage has definitely taken a turn for the worse, stopped watching about last season.

Shows on TV right now - 30 Rock is great. Doesn't get much better than Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan. Plus Tina Fey is a complete smoke show.

South Park still has it. I'm waiting for them to do an episode on Wall St. The royal Canadian Wedding was fucking hilarious.

Best Dramas are by far Breaking Bad and Justified

If you want an older show that a lot of people probably haven't watched, but is according to many the best TV show ever created, check out The Wire from HBO

As far as comedy's go Parks and Recreation and Community are both really good, Community kind of goes out on a limb with a lot of things, where as Parks and Rec is more of a solid show week to week.

Weeds is coming back in a few weeks, but to be honest Nancy Botwin just sucks now, and the show went very downhill after season 4.

Forgot about Spartacus. From what I heard it got interrupted due to the main actor getting cancer, but it's supposed to come back on and continue with the first season's plot. Great, great show, though wasn't as big a fan of the second "season" (if you can call it a season given its brevity).

I agree, the prequel was lacking but still entertaining. The way they were speaking sort of seemed forced but the fight scenes were arguably more epic than the first. I also heard the lead actor's cancer went into remission and just when they were about to start taping it came back for a second time - poor guy. They will now be replacing him from what I hear for the third (second) season unfortunately.

Have you guys read the books behind Game of Thrones? They're definitely very solid, would recommend them to anyone with a fair amount of spare time.

Definitely a fan of Breaking Bad / Dexter / Community / Modern Family. The strongest season of Dexter was either the second (with Doakes) or the ..fourth? with Trinity. The most recent one was shit comparatively. For those of you who watch Community, I'm really hoping that Chevy Chase hasn't been written out of the show. Thoughts?

Haha fair enough, I suppose someone has to watch Pretty Little Liars I just always assumed they would be female.

Epic article by the way!

Its not like I watch Pretty Little Liars. I was just saying it would be worth watching for the women. Apparently there is a pretty hot milf in there too.

Does anyone else watch Sherlock? It's a modern take on the Sherlock Holmes adventures by BBC, with rights to air it in the US owned by PBS. It's only had one season so far, with ~3 episodes per season (few episodes but each one is about 90min uninterrupted).

If you like the stories and/or mystery shows, check it out.

6/16/11

Speaking of BBC-type shows, the second season of Luther started the other night. Definitely a great show.

6/30/11

Game of Thrones got better and better as the season progressed. Episode 4 was the only bad one. Last half of the season was EPIC.

It'll be interesting to see how the war plays out (no spoilers please from the book readers), how they show the battles and stuff...war scenes could require a massive set and cast/crew.

6/30/11

Just got into Justified. Olyphant is a badass.

7/1/11

Anybody here watch the new show Suits on USA Network? Just finished watching the 2nd episode and it's pretty good so far.

7/1/11

Dexter was great up until this past season, hopefully they bring it back around for season 6. Modern family still takes the cake for me though

7/1/11

Suits looks like it'll be a good summer series. Pilot made me happy, catching the 2nd episode online this weekend.

I'm gonna be orginal here: Suits!

Its a new series following a college drop-out turned lawyer.. well almost. Only 2 episodes out so far, worth watching

7/6/11

dexter and entourage for me...
i still love them and i dont think i would miss out on any epi, no matter what...:)

7/7/11

Any HBO series is clearly the best, but they just figured out a winning formula.

BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE (BMS) is a great show that will never be recognized.

7/7/11

First of all, how was no one mentioned The League? Great show.

Second for Blue Mountain State, and Archer is also not getting enough love.

Anyone watch Secret Girlfriend on Comedy Central last year? Not sure if it's coming back but that was also one of my favorite comedies while it lasted.

7/7/11
7/7/11

I've seen Blue Mountain State. Its OK.

I watched a few episodes of the Hard Times of RJ Berger recently. Its pretty funny, and the girl in it is smoking hot.

Loved the Killing in the end. Moved a little slowly to begin with but was pretty great.

Will have to check out Suits.

Just started watching this one and I like it. It's pretty cheesy but entertaining as hell. Acting isn't bad either.

As for HBO- True Blood has gotten weird but I'm not going to abandon it. I'll stick it out with Entourage for the last 8 episodes. Game of Thrones is awesome, and I might start the books this summer if I get time. I couldn't really get into Treme or Boardwalk Empire (I tried desperately to get hooked but it just didn't do it for me).

Whoever pointed out Sherlock was spot on. I saw the first 3 on my Dad's recommendation.

I watch Castle with the girlfriend.

"For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen."

7/7/11

USA has definitely up'd its game this summer.

loving Suits, Royal Pains is decent if nothing else is on, Necessary Roughness is great, Covert Affairs makes me want to re-evaluate my career.

7/8/11

This week's episode of Suits was great. The character development is excellent.

Oh, and Meghan Markle is a slampiece.

7/8/11
7/8/11

I'm addicted to the First 48 and Criminal Minds

"There are only two opinions in this world: Mine and the wrong one." -Jeremy Clarkson

7/8/11

Entourage and Curb once they get back on the air for the summer

7/8/11

Suits is pretty awesome, no doubt.

7/8/11

Anyone seen Franklin and Bash? Its starting here in the UK, might give it a watch..

7/9/11

Hmm, Covert Affairs turned out decent? I got through the pilot and half of the second episode and shut it off. Lost my interest, seemed too phony and not engaging enough.

Love USA shows in general though. Is it worth looking at?

Also, just got into Sons of Anarchy over the holiday weekend and watched the entire first season in a marathon. Addicting, which is weird because I have almost nothing in common with any of the characters. Riveting show though. Starting Game of Thrones when I get up to date on SOA.

7/9/11

Pretty much everything has been mentioned here. I also like The League (FX).

7/10/11

Burn Notice, South Park, Entourage, and Suits (since it right after Burn Notice and it's not too bad). Walking Dead for the fall.

7/11/11

dexter and entourage wins for me big time! I love watching it with my husband on the days it is possible!

7/12/11

Sons of Anarchy

Breaking Bad (new season starting this Sunday)

He's from Newcastle, England. His accent is on the mild side though. Hahaha, it def sounds weird, like he is trying to lose it for American tv.

Weeds was great until the plot got all f'd up and confusing. Can't wait for Breaking Bad and Mad Men to return...

Not a huge fan of the wire.... cool plot but the eps are too long for me to care...

Check the season-7 of weeds. Nancy gets out of prison, the kids are all grown up and independent. I think the new season is better than ever.
Agreed season 6 got a lil bit fucked up!!

8/5/11

Also Burn Notice and Royal Pains is nice,

8/5/11

Not much in the way of UK shows on here.

Since last season is over, I'll list my favorites that will be returning soon:

US:
Game of Thrones
Walking Dead
Mad Men
Breaking Bad

UK:
Doctor Who
Inbetweeners
Being Human
Misfits

8/5/11

Game of Thrones was what the fuck is up. Just pulled a marathon last week and watched the whole season on sidereel, phenomenal fucking thing. Cannot wait for season 2.

Breaking bad. Been a bit of a disappointment so far in season 4 though. I liked the good ole cookin meth in the RV days.

8/7/11

Bar Rescue on SpikeTV. Basically bar restructuring or the bar version of Restaurant Impossible. I recommend checking it out. Funny how people can manage to own and operate a business, yet have no direction or clue at all.

8/9/11

Really like Wilfred.

Absolutely hated the Killing. Bigger plot holes then anything I have ever seen. And you saw the twist coming a mile off.

8/9/11

30 Rock.

To everyone who's said Entourage: What are you, like 5 years old?

8/9/11

Is Weeds actually good? Saw first 2 episodes and was underwhelmed. Same with Sons of Anarchy.

Californication, Entourage, Curb - still entertaining though not as good as earlier seasons.

Heard Game of Thrones is the shit but haven't seen it yet.

What are you talking about?? Entourage is for 18+ only and a very popular show.

Eye Candy, nice cars, hot girls. good story, dream life, male bonding (no homo), interesting characters like Ari Gold.

8/9/11

^ Yeah, it's rated 18+ because of the swear words, though it's made for retards. Older people can be as dumb as 5 year olds too, you know.

No offence, but why is it that Indians love Weeds? All my friends, that came over from India, just love that show. I dont see it myself!

8/9/11

Entourage sucks dick. I cannot stand that Jeremy Piven. What a garbage actor.

Archer

I recently discovered it, and I have never been so impressed with a cartoon show.

I feel it caters to many WSO readers, with Archer, the main character, being a young athletic and mind -blowingly hilarious.

I suggest checking out a couple if you haven't yet.
