Starting a thread because I haven't seen one yet. Several people I talked to at the bank said recruiting is starting soon/has started, but I cannot find an application online. Anyone have any updates?

From what I have heard, the majority of recruiting is done at target schools and then the application opens up in the summer for non-targets and referrals.
Wouldn’t that mean recruiting doesn’t really start till sept cuz otherwise how would they hold info sessions? plus a top-target I know doesn’t even give it’s students access to the job portal till Sept.
I think they started April for some targets in US
Could be wrong, but I think they have done a substantial amount of OCR already. Not sure about offers but I know they have began interviews at target schools

Non-target here, got a few surveys regarding group placement then a application for S&T about a week ago or so. Haven't heard anything since.
when did your app come in? I got the email from HR and asked for IB, but never heard back.
What was on the survey? Also, do you guys know how different the process is for IB and S&T?

From what I understand, referrals carry some weight with BMO
They said if you are picked for a first round you'll hear back in late June and interview will be held through July. This was for S&T so not sure about IB or CB timeline

Ok sweet, thanks for the info. I networked with one person and to me it seems like the referral is sufficient based on what they said. But i'm sure it would only help if you networked more.
I think most will but networking always helps to secure it cause its hard to imagine they will invite everyone who applied through the link for a first round, which they mass sent it out to target schools

It seems like we all applied through referrals on this page. It appears they didn't release an application for non-referrals yet. I'm not sure they ever will open that up -- I have no idea.
they never had one for summer 2020 or 2019, so assume they won't this year

same here seems like downtrend and pretty gloomy of a place
everyone i spoke to said the opposite lol
Would definitely say culture at the bank is very group dependent in the US and much of the negative sentiment is around Canadian groups.

Looks like the people who have first rounds are from referrals. Don't think the formal application is open online.

BMO accelerated their recruiting processes for IB and Corp Banking. I have a first-round tomorrow for Corp Banking which had a June 12th application deadline.
Comparable MMs like KeyBanc are closing their IB applications soon as well.

How likely are you to get a first round if you have a referral? Had one but didn't get a first round.
depends on if the person actually referred you to the recruiting captain/HR, depends on if it was an analyst/associate or higher up, and whether or not they just forwarded your resume or did they say "this kid is awesome, give him an interview". I received an interview after speaking with a higher up at BMO and I'm not from a target U.S. school for BMO Capital Markets.

On the website it states they don't open applications until August 1st - through January. I would recommend reading their website for details. I presume from what I am reading is that they will start doing the same with regards to campus visits.

Finished up my superday for IB in NYC on Friday (July 24). Has anyone heard back yet? I don't know if they're waiting to finish up the rest of the interviews to send out offers or not. I'm assuming I got put on the wait list.
I have heard that they wait until all super-days are done to send out offers, hopefully that is Tomorrow

No, I'm a non-target but got a referral from a VP which gave me a first round. They will potenitally have another round (depending on how many offers they give out in the next few days), but you'd for sure need a relativly senior person to talk to HR on your behalf
