Boutique Valuation Advisors Internship interview
Hey Guys,
So all the cold emailing finally paid off. I landed an interview for a part-time fall internship at a boutique valuation advisory firm in NY being from a non target. Assuming this will be my first technical interview, I was just looking for some advice on what to be ready for.
So far I have been seeing / preparing for:
Connect financial statements (Comparable Company, DCF, Precedent Transaction) 3 Valuation methods Walk me through a DCF (Include FCF WACC EBITDA) Debt or Equity or a Mix? Enterprise value vs equity value vs Total invested capital Beta & CAPM
And then the typical resume / last time failed / disagreed types of questions.
Any other insight?
Every valuation has a motive - know the market/customer group of the firm
You said connect financial statements. You mean BS, IS, CF statement. What you stated were valuation methods.
I'd focus on some accounting knowledge as well (e.g. how do XYZ impact all three statements?)
Yes I meant to list the valuations the line below.
This is what they specialize in:
specializes in real estate appraisals, business valuations, intangibles and intellectual properties, and valuations of illiquid, complex, and distressed securities. Securities and other assets covered include Auction Rate Securities, ABS, MBS and other structured products; a wide range of derivative instruments; limited or general partner interests in investment funds; PIPEs and other restricted securities; distressed debt and bankruptcy claims; intellectual properties and intangible assets; plus operating businesses, asset holding entities, and real estate.
No requirements of responsibilities are listed.
How did you come up with a list of firms to email about fall internships? I am attempting to compile one now for this upcoming fall
