Can someone explain what's going on with GS Sophomore Summer?

Hey guys,

I'm a rising sophomore pursuing IB and go to a target. I was wondering what is going on with GS. I've heard some people say they discontinued sophomore analyst programs, while others saying they got hirevues. I can tell if this is a troll or not. Can someone please clarify?

Based on previous WSO threads, here's what you need to know about GS Sophomore Summer programs:

  • Goldman Sachs (GS) Sophomore Summer Analyst Programs:
    • Recruitment: GS is known to be very low-key about their sophomore program. They typically take around 20 students for Investment Banking (IB), including both classic and financing roles. This information comes from former sophomore SAs.
    • Application Process: It appears that GS is still recruiting, but having an "in" or a connection can be crucial. This suggests that networking and leveraging any contacts you have within the firm could be beneficial.
    • Confusion on Program Status: There seems to be some confusion regarding the status of the program, with mixed reports about its continuation and the issuance of HireVue interviews. This could be due to the selective and somewhat opaque nature of the recruitment process.

For more detailed and updated information, it might be helpful to directly reach out to GS recruiters or connect with current or former interns who have gone through the process.

They discontinued the formal sophomore analyst positions, typically recruited in the fall (of sophomore year). I think you could've maybe applied to the GS SA 2025 as they say in the description, "second or third year of study" but you would have had to recruit for that freshman spring.
