I think Georgetown. Know a bunch of analysts from Georgetown. They are all studs. Don't know any from Brown. Maybe that's perspective bias, but I think Georgetown does a better job in prepping kids for technicals, whereas Brown doesn't. Also think the Georgetown alumni base is much stronger in finance, but do not have data to back that up.

EDIT: I do not go to either lol I go to a state school

It’s okay you went Deerfield/Exeter/Choate/Andover and couldn’t hack an ivy and now you gotta sit at Georgetown around fellow ivy rejects. At least you will get that job you hardo. Lol

Lol do you know what happened to that kid? but RBC and CVP definitely have a strong Georgetown Pipeline despite that kid's incompetence.

Both are great schools. You'll probably see more at GTown going for finance, while there's more of a mix between MBB and finance at Brown. I'd choose Brown, but realistically the best option is whatever offers you the most money

Great dilemma, yet simultaneously tough. I would think from a pure outcomes perspective, Brown (Ivy, less competition, etc.). However, the environment there isn’t really to my taste, while Georgetown’s is (Greek life, parties, etc.). I’d hope you have at least a few other comparable options so the choice doesn’t become that binary (Cornell, Penn, Duke, etc.).

Since it was being compared to Brown. If it was Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, or Duke and Georgetown, then any of those places would win hands down.

both are great schools! personally know people who transferred from one to the other and vice versa.

personally, brown for me cause it’s more fun, laid back, and open curriculum.

unbeatable undergrad experiences at both!

Georgetown is a good school but brown is a different level… GTown is filled with prep school kids who couldn’t make it to an Ivy but still have the arrogance of an Ivy League…

I go to Georgetown - it’s a great school, if DC and politics/IR is a draw for you then go for it. But purely for finance, brown is clearly better

I go to Georgetown and I’d recommend Brown. Brown is such a free school. No one does any work they just sit around and drop acid and the school gives them a 4.0 for it. You can take any classes you want to just relax. Georgetown is better for finance but because of that more people are gunning for the positions and so you have to put the work in. You’ll turn out a better person in finance from Georgetown but you’ll have a better chance if you go to brown.

Every ivy and t10 school places better per capita and has a higher ceiling than georgetown

Idk what you talking about man Gtown ranks #2 if you weight it. Brown doesn’t ever come in till 25. I think you should take brown because it’s a joke school where you’ll get a free 4.0 but if you actually want to put the work in and better yourself come to Georgetown.

gtown cause some finance hardo named bill clinton became president of the us, while another finance hardo named jon ossoff became one of the youngest senators ever elected.

the same finance hardos founded sweetgreen & luke's lobster too!

don’t believe the stereotypes cause these finance hardos go on to do great things.

haha jk, pick the school that you vibe with the best - you’re gonna run into those finance bro types at any highly ranked school you go. gtown more than brown yes cause they got undergrad biz, but hardos are everywhere you go.

brown does seem like the more fun of the 2, while gtown’s location is unbeatable.

both are phenomenal options.

yes, there are hardos at gtown, but not as much as wharton, ross, stern, or any larger undergrad bschool, and yes, there are stoners at brown, but they are not the whole school and there are many serious students who do very well for themselves.

many ambitious top hs grads would kill to go to either school, ibd/buyside placement is phenomenal from both, and their resources are exceptional, so just pick the one you like better.

best of luck, and im sure you'll succeed wherever you go!

I grew up in Rhode Island and not too far from Brown. My sister also lives in DC, so I've spent some time in the Georgetown area as well. I think DC is a nicer city to live in than the East Side of Providence. Besides getting some food on Thayer Street I don't know what there really is to do around Brown. Rhode Island in the summertime is the best though. Education and reputation-wise I'd pick Brown, but I think you might be bored compared to what your student life would be like in Georgetown.

Can't speak for Brown but Georgetown places really well. I'm sure Brown does too as an ivy. Go to the one whose culture and city you prefer. They are very different schools with very different student bodies.

Love Gtown. Not a lot of hardos than people think and they don't make it very far. 90% of people I've met have been super chill and helpful. Brown is excellent but if you have misgivings about Gtown, I'd say most of it isn't true

No one in this chat is giving you a serious answer.

These are both target schools, so if you have a good GPA, banks will take your application seriously from either school. The only real question, is where would you prosper?

Brown doesn't have a real business major. You'd have to study "entrepreneurship." Georgetown has a proper business school, McDonough (both respected outside of Georgetown, and known within Georgetown to be incredibly easy). You'd have an easier time learning technicals in class and keeping a high GPA at Georgetown.

Brown is an Ivy, that will carry you for the rest of your life. G town while a good school isn't an Ivy equivalent. Also if you wanted an MBA later then Brown would be a good undergrad because the Brown MBA sucks and you wouldn't apply there but G town has a solid one so if you wanted to maximize the alum base.

Georgetown grad here who has some Brown friends through finance. IB options will be similar, anyone who is trying to tell you one school has materially better placements than the other is wrong. The difference is Georgetown is pretty much set up to breed IB and MBB kids, while a fewer percentage at Brown take that path. I personally wouldn't make the decision based on finance placements unless you really feel that the recruiting atmosphere at one school will serve you best. An Ivy name will always carry you far and I have seen below average GU kids waltz into great IB jobs.

The best argument for Brown is that classes are much easier and it is far easier to get a higher GPA which is really the only thing that matters. Especially in the business school at Georgetown, classes have curves applied (despite having no MSB wide curve, departments are allowed to have their own curves). If you are looking at Georgetown SFS, there is a similar factor in play to Brown with easy classes and grade inflation.

At the end of the day, your career will be successful at both schools so go talk to people who are currently attending each school and try to see where you will be happier. I know it can seem hard to focus on something like that, but trust me you will want to have fun over the next four years.
