How do people break into Ops?

Not a troll. I know I'm just not cut out for high finance. I don't mind working less even if it means getting paid less, but I often hear how bad back office is. There has to be at least one person happy being at the back office. So, does anyone here work in Ops and would be happy to discuss getting the role?

why do you want to do Ops? like genuinely I’m asking because I want to know if any facet of the job attracts you (the day to day). this is all putting aside things you know like the fact that your pay trajectory is more like that of a 9-5 (I mean you’ll still be hitting 6 figures after a couple years so compared to middle America it’s definitely fine).

I think you should look into a corp dev, corp strat or a FLDP role that pays well and doesn't have long hours. You're better than ops, I believe in you.

Hey thanks for the kind words. Yes I'm definitely looking into other roles. I've been told to look at Commercial Banking or FP&A as well

Bro, I´m not too proud to admit I worked at a MM BO during school, and let me tell you, it´s terrible. Either washouts, smart and without ambitions, or literal Karens - that´s gonna be your colleagues. Don´t get me wrong, you´ll find smart and knowledgeable people here and there. But by and large, it´s a really annoying atmosphere. Go for F500 CorpFin or CorpDev. I was offered a CorpFin role several time, didn´t work due to timing, but you will absolutely be more satisfied with it than with Back Office, believe me.

I understand, thanks for the advice. I had a chance to interview for CorpFin but it also didn’t work out due to timing. My other internship interview offers were also cancelled thanks to COVID, which is why I was considering back office since it’s easier to get into
