Ohio State Fischer School of Business for IB
I'm currently a senior in high school who got accepted into Ohio State University. Fischer is one of my cheaper options so I wanted to know how Fischer places for IB. I know about the Fischer Futures program but I am not sure of how successful this program is or how competitive it is.
I didn't go to The Ohio State university but a similar school. Here is how my networking went.
Just doing a quick search you have a good amount of bankers that you can reach out too across wall street and across the nation. on top of that there are a good amount of state school alumni you be able to reach with the right story.
I would say that if you don't have a target school as an option to attend you be just fine at The Ohio State University as you know you want to go into banking so early. You probably will have no problem. Coming from a state school can be rough, but with enough networking you can get to wall street.

there are many threads on this forum about Fisher. It's one of the better state school programs, and is good value for money. Futures has nearly 100% placement but this is done thru networking not on campus recruiting. A lot of kids still make it to banking without futures tho. Yes the program (like any IB program) is competitive. Obviously you're better off going to a target but when taking cost into account it is excellent value. I've got the same BB offer that other target kids have for less than half the price. Important to understand that going to a target will make your life immensely easier though, including for if/when you want to do buyside recruiting.

27 this year but likely around 30+ by the time you are eligible to apply
Hey jack@..... start practicing your attention to detail by spelling the name of the school correctly... yes you can break into the industry from this school no doubt. It won't be easy, but it is possible.
It's possible, but there are many other state schools and undergrad business programs that place better into IB. OSU places more into commercial banking. I have come across maybe one or two that were UGs and ended up at PE or MM firms.

I haven't enough information to tell you if it's an interest issue, quality issue, recruitment issue, lack of alumni, etc.
If you want IB from freshman year and are willing to put in the work, you can break in from pretty much any school. Ohio State has enough name recognition/alumni that if you try you can land a good gig. You might not get into EVR but nothing will be out of reach with a bit of luck.

Sure, what I meant is it'll be harder to compete for the most competitive spots like EVR vs real target school kids, but everything is within reach if you work your ass off and network.
I currently go to OSU and am not in Futures program bc I transferred in, and still landed an IB offer. The school has enough alumni and name recognition that if you network hard, you'd be able to break into Wall street. Obviously, going to a target school will make the process much easier, but that in-state tuition cost is also something worth mentioning.
Ohio State is still out of state for me but compared to other out of state schools, it's cheaper

Really impressed with Fisher, and Columbus and OSU have a lot to offer...
Fisher's ability to place has not been strong historically, but has significantly improved over the last 3-5 years. Though it is not on par with Ross or Kelley, it is gaining traction quickly. KeyBank and Duff & Phelps (if you would call that an IB) both recruit heavily on-campus in addition to smaller shops in the area such as BGL. Though that's about it as far as on-campus goes, there is a solid OSU presence at Blair, Baird, and Barclays as of lately. There's alumni scattered at the majority of tops shops, but normally no more than a couple at each. You just have to be willing to work a little bit harder to get your foot in the door with those alums, and Futures will connect you to these alumni if you get accepted. PM me if you have more questions about Futures, as I went through the program a couple years ago. And for the love of god it's spelled Fisher- reading that gave me an aneurysm.

I am deciding between Kelley and Fisher - I like both a lot, got into Honors in both, and was leaning IU until I did the Fisher Admitted Students Day - I think Fisher is improving rapidly, and IU seems to be more Greek oriented than OSU, and Columbus seems to have a lot of opportunity - I am not sure if I want to do IB, consulting, corporate finance etc yet but I am leaning towards OSU - I think will have more holistic college experience and similar opportunity set, as the IBW workshop seems like a crapshoot, and if you don't get into IBW, it's not a big difference, plus I am a diehard Buckeye fan, my mom went there and I love OSU - am I crazy to pick Fisher over Kelley?

Why do you say that the IBW at Indiana is a crapshoot? I've heard that almost everyone who is in the workshop gets a IB offer
