WFH Policies 2024
It's 2024, what's everyone's WFH policy (sell side and buy side)? Firm (if you can share) / days in office / facetime culture while in office?
I'll start: Greenwich credit hedge fund / four days in the office / heavy facetime culture
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the WFH policies have been a hot topic in the finance industry, especially post-2020. While I don't have the specific WFH policies for 2024, I can infer from the 2023 trends and discussions that there's a mix of preferences and policies across the industry. Here's what I can gather:
For more detailed and current policies, you might want to check out the latest threads on WSO or reach out directly to professionals in the industry for the most up-to-date information.

Following
(Ignore title) GS NY (Coverage) / 5 days in office / moderate facetime culture.
LA EB / 3 days in office / relatively little facetime culture
BB. 4 days in office. Heavy facetime culture for juniors but it seems like VP's and up can do whatever tf they want. They implemented a "strict" badge swipe tracking program but all you have to do is swipe your badge in the morning and leave by lunch, no one bats an eye. I think this is reflective across the board. Once the boomers and gen x retire, working conditions are going to improve drastically.
Wherever you are working from, just make sure you’re generating shareholder value for ‘the client’
CB @ BB - 3 days in office with no facetime culture for juniors
No way. Is this TD? No BB offers 3 days in office.
Prob Citi. Its 3 days for us
Work in PE in LA - 3 days in office
Corporate banking (ignore title). I work 4 days in office and fri from home
Boutique bank in NYC
3 days in office, 2 WFH
Not much of a facetime culture, but we can only order Seamless when in the office. Seniors (Asc/VP+) are usually gone by 5 or 6pm
MF PE
3 days in office
No real facetime culture
Any datapoints on PJT/Centerview/Evercore? Are they in 5x a week?
PJT is 4x in office with Fri WFH. Very minimal FaceTime - most people come in between 10-10:30am and you can leave at like 6 if that works best for you. Firm ethos is around trust and if you show that you get your shit done they don’t really care about face time
SF EB / three days in office (officially), come in when you want (in practice) / nonexistent facetime culture.
Baird - 3 days in office Moderate / low face time culture
What group is this for? Do you know if Industrials has a high emphasis on facetime?
Does industrials have a high emphasis on facetime lmaoooooooooooooooooo... you gon learn today
BB coverage group, NY. 5 days in office on the books, but limited facetime culture so 2-3 days in office in practice is common.
Wells Fargo, NYC coverage group. 4 days in office, Friday from home. All of our calls are on Teams even if we're all sitting next to each other.
Large cap industrials Corp Dev / 3-4 days in the office / facetime valued
The caveats are that there is a way higher level of WFH acceptability for valid reasons (sick, dentist appointments, injuries , etc.) and when our group head is out we can almost always WFH
I cringe when I think about all the banks monitoring entry card swipes and factoring that into bonuses (not going to name names, but there seem to be a handful of these firms).
Any Canadian/Toronto datapoints? 4 days IO with relatively low face time for me.
Citi. NYC. Product group. 4 days in office with heavy facetime culture for Analyst and Associates. Everyone else has free rein. Not only are they tracking our badge swipes, they have admins and staffers taking attendance every day. Feels like you're in elementary school.
thats wild - is attendance done for other groups? sounds like prison
It is but not as strict. I think across the bank, company has said 3 days in office but some groups pushing towards 4-5.
Any datapoints for JPM NYC IBD product groups?
M&A is mandated 5 days in the office
thx for the info!
RBC m-th in office and fri at home. Group business managers walk around the floor and take attendance most days
