WFH Policies 2024

It's 2024, what's everyone's WFH policy (sell side and buy side)? Firm (if you can share) / days in office / facetime culture while in office?

I'll start: Greenwich credit hedge fund / four days in the office / heavy facetime culture

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the WFH policies have been a hot topic in the finance industry, especially post-2020. While I don't have the specific WFH policies for 2024, I can infer from the 2023 trends and discussions that there's a mix of preferences and policies across the industry. Here's what I can gather:

  • Some firms, particularly on the buy-side like certain private equity firms, have been offering perks such as WFH 4 days a week.
  • On the sell-side, there's been a push for more in-office presence, but there's also mention of "banked" WFH days being included in offer letters, suggesting a degree of flexibility.
  • The culture of facetime while in the office remains important, especially in roles where collaboration and mentorship are key.

For more detailed and current policies, you might want to check out the latest threads on WSO or reach out directly to professionals in the industry for the most up-to-date information.

BB. 4 days in office. Heavy facetime culture for juniors but it seems like VP's and up can do whatever tf they want. They implemented a "strict" badge swipe tracking program but all you have to do is swipe your badge in the morning and leave by lunch, no one bats an eye. I think this is reflective across the board. Once the boomers and gen x retire, working conditions are going to improve drastically.

Corporate banking (ignore title). I work 4 days in office and fri from home

Large cap industrials Corp Dev / 3-4 days in the office / facetime valued

The caveats are that there is a way higher level of WFH acceptability for valid reasons (sick, dentist appointments, injuries , etc.) and when our group head is out we can almost always WFH

I cringe when I think about all the banks monitoring entry card swipes and factoring that into bonuses (not going to name names, but there seem to be a handful of these firms).
