What Supplements Do You Take?

What supplements do you monkeys take? Pre-workout, nootropics, protein, creatine, multivitamins, fat burners, BCAAs, anything. Here’s my current stack:

ON Whey Protein

MuscleFeast Oats Powder

German Creatine (I put these this and the two above in a smoothie)

UMZU Redwood for blood flow and circulation

Ancestral Supplements Beef Liver Extract

MuscleTech Clear Muscle

Lysine and Proline

Vitamin D

Adrenal Support (Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, and Schisandra)

BioPerine (for absorption)

Magnesium

Zinc

BioPure BPC-157

PurePeps Tb500

And yes I know it’s a lot, most of it is for my rehab from a back injury. Normally it would only be Protein, creatine, and a multivitamin. Would love to hear what you guys take, especially those who work long hours.

Can't comment on most of the above, but consider switching to a whey/casein protein mix for both fast and slow digestion. Some also think a mix is good to take advantage of whey's effect on muscle protein synthesis and casein's effect on limiting muscle breakdown. Protein in milk is 80% casein though, so whey in milk is often thought to be good enough.

A worthwhile video also referencing the benefits of caffeine and L-citrulline in pre workouts.

So I take UMZU Redwood for circulation since the discs heal so slowly because of their limited blood supply. Adrenal Support (adaptogenic herbs) for stress management because cortisol can really hurt recovery. Lysine and Proline (also Vitamin C) are the main building blocks of collagen (connective tissue), so that should be a good bet. Magnesium and zinc to support muscle recovery, and I’m taking Clear Muscle because it’s main benefit is delaying muscle breakdown when you can’t train hard (my current situation). And then the two big ones that I’m actually starting today are BPC 157 and TB500. These are peptides that have shown tremendous promise when it comes to healing of all kinds: bones, muscles, ligaments, stomach, you name it. Also no side effects because they are made naturally in the body. Only downside is you have to inject them subcutaneously. If I had to only pick one or two (most people don’t want to spend this much money) it would be these two. PM me if you want more info, happy to help

How much does all this cost you on a monthly basis?

Like I said this is a special circumstance so total it’s probably 3-400 bucks, but it’s only for one month so I’m willing to spend that kind of money, usually it’s only about 40-50.

vitamin c, b+, d

zinc

BCAA

Isn't flax seed notorious for decreasing testosterone levels?

You could be right. I definitely want high T. Maybe I should switch back to krill oil next...

You realise most of that is doing fuck all for you but giving you extremely expensive piss?

It will be nice when nanotech bots analyze  our body for deficiencies and tell us through an app what we need.

Multi Vitamin

Garlic Pill (they say it is good for the heart)

Biotin (they say it is good for the hair)

Protein bars and protein shakes

A cup of coffee in the AM

From what I've read taking collagen might not actually be the best idea because your body can't do anything with it. I think you would be better off taking things that are precursors and building blocks to collagen, like vitamin C. But if it works for you, by all means keep doing it

GNC Megamen Sport's multivitamin

GNC Triple Strength Fish Oil

6 g of creatine

3.2 g of beta-alanine

Coffee in the morning

Whey protein isolate

@anyone who uses ON Gold Standard or anything else they make you're wasting your money if you use their products - worked at a supplement store during schools - these guys do a ton of marketing so if you google "best protein powder" or "protein powder for beginners" then they pop up first but the product itself is horribly overpriced

The label reads "protein isolate (and then in smaller lettering) primary source" - its not an isolate - if you read the label the product contains protein isolate and then also contains concentrate (which makes no sense - isolate is a derivative of concentrate and therefore all concentrate contains isolate)

If you like the flavor or you get a good sale or it works for you then use it but if you're reading this thread then please for the love of god don't buy ON products simply because bodybuilding.com says they're the best

I’m in Canada so there are a ton more options in the IS especially when it comes to ordering stuff online.

ON’s gold standard is a concentrate (as described above) and a great discount brand that I’ve used is Revolution (they make concentrates and isolates). These will be cheaper in general.

For isolates you have a lot more options - PVL isogold, Revolution as mentioned above and Magnum’s blended option are great choices - revolution will be your lowest cost and has a great chocolate and vanilla.

Again, check online if you’re in the states - prices will vary but you can always ask someone at the local shop what the lowest cost per scoop may be for an isolate or a concentrate but be sure to read the label!!!

- BCAA (kinda pointless but whatever), Creatine, protein shake or two when diet is lacking

- homemade pre: L-Citrulline, L-Arginine, Beta Alanine, beet root extract, + flavor

- daily multi

- caffeine pills here and there

- turmeric juice (1.5 oz), ginger juice (1.5 oz), cayenne pepper (dash), black pepper essential oil (drop or two)

FWIW: everyone here taking fish oil pills... most are pointless.. lack active ingredients that are beneficial. Dies off between the time its processed, packaged, shipped and delivered to you. Forget the science behind what I'm alluding to.. but you would be much better off eating a can of tuna or something a couple times a week.

Pre workout first thing in AM: Scoop of beet root powder Scoop of SFH Push pre-workout Creatine

Post workout: Ascent whey protein and milk

At night: Ascent casein protein smoothie

SFH and Ascent are unfortunately quite expensive, but both seem to have the most “natural” ingredients in comparison to others I’ve used.

Not related to supplements but I stretch a ton, which has helped me not damage my body recently. Stretch 30 mins before gym opens and at night if I can.

I just got this Jocko Krill oil today:

Also met with my psychiatrist today and he said I should try this full spectrum CBD oil so ordered some today:

You don’t need any supplements to grow muscle or stay lean. Everything should come from what you eat/ how you train. Supplements are just an additional add on that gives you a little boost in progress.

The best protein isolate is one that is tested for purity and quality and has more protein per scoop. Always compare different brands and products before purchasing. I find Wikisheets really helpful for product comparison.

I have several supplements and three kinds of vitamins in my diet. Two of which are combined and one is vitamin E. Of all the supplements, the first thing I take daily is Barley Grass Juice Powder and only after this powder can I continue the rest of my pill intake. I believe that it is the supplements that help me fight everyday fatigue and stress and I am truly glad that mankind has invented to support my body in different ways
