2013 Recruiting Season

Hey guys,

Any idea if the recruiting cycle has kicked off yet? Heard that apparently the big megfunds are not starting their processes until later in the year, just want to confirm though.

Also, any idea what the market is looking like for off-cycle opportunities for 2012 summer start dates? Are certain prominent PE funds still looking?

Thanks!

Not landing interviews? Find out why.

Thanks guys, appreciate it! Any idea when funds are going to start the process? I heard that apparently some of the bigger funds have agreed not to start their processes until next January... Also, any idea which kinds of funds might be looking for an off--cycle hire?

first round interviews kicked off yesterday -- surprisingly, first interviews were for some well-known middle-market and growth equity funds. First set of final rounds are tomorrow / this weekend.

Where does the modeling tests / case studies fall into this? Are there really only 2 rounds (not including cocktail / coffee sessions)?

The big boys move fast and usually do give out offers after just two rounds. The first round can be via phone or in person. The second round typically consists of a modeling test with a case study component and is held within a week following the first round.

My friend who worked at Carlyle did his first round with them in person on a Thursday, went on a trip for the weekend that was planned weeks in advance, found out on Saturday that he got a final round, went back to DC on Tuesday for his final round, and got the offer.

Lower MMs lack the recruiting infrastructure of the bigger funds, so their processes are more protracted and can take up to a month.

If you got the emails from GoBuyside, you should have a much clearer picture of who's been made moves already.

GTCR Leonard Green (follow-up chats/meetings)*

What positions is Leonard Green recruiting for currently? Associates or Vice Presidents as well?
Huh? This is the standard summer 2013 recruiting rush, so it's for associates. LGP is not a big-ass firm in terms of personnel, so it's not like there's a formal process for VPs. Recruiting on that level is done on a one-off, as-needed basis.
