2013 Recruiting Season
Hey guys,
Any idea if the recruiting cycle has kicked off yet? Heard that apparently the big megfunds are not starting their processes until later in the year, just want to confirm though.
Also, any idea what the market is looking like for off-cycle opportunities for 2012 summer start dates? Are certain prominent PE funds still looking?
Thanks!
Heard the same about 2013 recruiting - has not kicked off yet.
2012 opportunities are very, very slim.
i've heard there's one megafund in chicago beginning the process. otherwise, haven't heard of any others that have started.
since when were there megafunds in chicago
Probably referring to MDP or GTCR
Thanks guys, appreciate it! Any idea when funds are going to start the process? I heard that apparently some of the bigger funds have agreed not to start their processes until next January... Also, any idea which kinds of funds might be looking for an off--cycle hire?
Supposedly the megafunds are trying to hold off, but some funds have kicked off already as referenced by a few headhunters. I'm sure the rest will soon follow suit as that's what happened last year...
Thanks Banker 88. Any idea which funds have already started their processes?
I know of multiple funds that have hosted cocktail events in NYC and one larger fund in Chicago that has already had first rounds. I also know of a half-dozen middle market funds that are planning to launch recruiting within the next 2-3 weeks.
first round interviews kicked off yesterday -- surprisingly, first interviews were for some well-known middle-market and growth equity funds. First set of final rounds are tomorrow / this weekend.
Where does the modeling tests / case studies fall into this? Are there really only 2 rounds (not including cocktail / coffee sessions)?
My friend who worked at Carlyle did his first round with them in person on a Thursday, went on a trip for the weekend that was planned weeks in advance, found out on Saturday that he got a final round, went back to DC on Tuesday for his final round, and got the offer.
Lower MMs lack the recruiting infrastructure of the bigger funds, so their processes are more protracted and can take up to a month.
My understanding is that Leonard Green, NEA, New Mountain are all going. Also General Atlantic, which is surprising as they are a rather large fund
I've heard of 4 other MM funds not listed here that kicked off yesterday
If you got the emails from GoBuyside, you should have a much clearer picture of who's been made moves already.
" The below firms have begun interviewing and/or reaching out to candidates for meetings/interviews. We have only listed firms if we received two independent confirmations from candidates working at different investment banks.
Private Equity
Catterton Partners
Centerbridge (already given out offers)
CVC Capital
General Atlantic
GTCR Leonard Green (follow-up chats/meetings)*
Lindsay Goldberg
New Mountain Capital (case study interviews)
NGP (hired their class)
T.H. Lee (follow-up chats/meetings)*
*These occurred after their cocktail events so basically first-round interviews "
And Berkshire & Altamont
What positions is Leonard Green recruiting for currently? Associates or Vice Presidents as well?
sdf
whats left? the gobuyside list had a lot of names that kicked off
Thanks for the great info everyone! Could anyone send along / post the gobuyside list that has a list of the funds that have started their processes?
