2018 APD MBB Full Time Recruiting
Hi everyone, wanted to get this thread started for updates on the APD recruiting cycle at MBB for this year. Applied a few weeks ago to McKinsey but no updates yet, including invitation for PST.

Applied to all 3 as well (although I'm not sure I'm considered in this exact group.. just graduated with Ph.D). Yesterday, I just got a Pymetrics link from BCG that is supposedly not going to be part of the interview process.
which office are you applying this year?
I applied to Bay Area offices. I got one rejection from a McK internship (July 27) but no email about FT consulting, btw.
McKinsey rejection came in today.

Just wondering re: bcg pymetrics, did you apply to bridge? They had us do it for bridge so just assuming they're not asking us again.
I hadn't applied to bridge; I'd assume your hunch is right.
Didn't apply to Bridge. Did all Bridge applicants get invited to pymetrics, do you know? Or did you get some form of interview following it?

No news from Bain yet, but also heard from McKinsey 7/27 with an offer to interview, applied to Insight but was rejected.

Applied to all three on application deadline days. Dinged from BCG on 8/30, no word from the others. All were to NY (or metro area) offices.
BCG is already dinging people? Anybody else heard from BCG?
Just a theory, but I may have not been eligible for advanced degree recruiting because I graduated in December 2016 and worked in academia for a year. Even though it was a temporary position roughly equivalent to a postdoc (in my discipline), the BCG recruiter I spoke with a while ago said I would be considered an experienced hire. I also didn't have any network at BCG. So it may have been an easy decision for them.

Have you heard back regarding your McK interview on 8/16? I recently interviewed as a STEM APD and haven't heard back yet...
Applied to all three (NY/metro office) and got rejection from McK on 7/27.
I applied to all 3 firms. Interview with Mckinsey. Waiting to hear from BCG and Bain. Looking at last year's thread, people heard from BCG and Bain starting on the 10th of August. So another week of torture haha.
I noticed the same. I've put my anxiety gear in neutral until that date. It's still idling pretty high, but at least it's not accelerating.
I asked a BCG recruiter about when to expect a response, she said by Aug 10th. hmmm.
BTW, if I didn't get the pymetrics exam invitation, can I assume that I probably have already gotten dinged? or the people who received pymetrics invitation are selectively chosen?
Does anyone know any percentage of APDs that get an interview at Bain, and then percentage of offers for people that interview?
Not sure of percentage, but I know some interview offers have already been extended. Probably hard to know anything about percentages since the last year or two have seen a little increase in APD efforts (or at least it seems so to me).

I did not. FWIW, this was my second time applying to BCG, after getting dinged in the final round.

I am in life sciences and also applied for LEK. I also recently submitted an app for IQVIA that I'm likely not qualified for but wanted to see if they would reach out with any interest. No word back from either. I heard from a contact at LEK (LA office) that they were going to be reviewing candidates and sending invites around this week.

McK let me know I got an interview July 27 - if it makes a difference, I'm coming out of a postdoc from Virginia and I applied to the Chicago office.
Why do you guys think that the psymetric tests have anything to do with BCG's decisions? Does anyone have any inside info on this? Doesn't it say in the email that the results don't affect your chances of getting an interview or offer?
I don’t think people think the results will affect chances of getting an interview. I think people think whether you take it or not and whether you got the email to take it or not will affect the chances of getting an interview
Ah ok gotcha. Thanks. I took it yesterday and apparently they gave candidates a couple more days to do the test. So I guess we'll hear soon

Got interview invitation from McK on 7/27. Rejected by insight if that makes a difference. The campus ambassador is going to informally meet the candidates from our school and all candidates already signed up for the meeting time slots. I think if you are not hearing from the recruiter, then probably you are on the waiting list at this point. Btw, did anyone hear back from Bain?

Not sure the mail did not say anything, they said they will get in touch to schedule interview. Do you have info on GAMMA interview process and how it compares to generalist role process? I have a strong background in coding/Python but I am from an engineering degree (not computer/stat/math)

For BCG, I applied for a generalist role at a location that doesn't have GAMMA, so I'm not sure which location that would be for yet.
UPDATES for BCG Gamma:
8/28: Had phone screening. Notified I was moving on to next round at the end of the call.
9/6-11: Given data set to analyze for technical case and returned my analysis. Was approved to move forward to present the technical case as well as the business case interview.

Both interviews went pretty well, but not perfect. I was pleased with my performance since I'm pretty new to the business world, but I was pretty sure I was going to get rejected. Both interviewers were very kind and helpful, I can't complain. The only disappointing part is the amount of time required for preparing for both interviews and the length of the whole process.

Not really....I'm supposed to have a phone call with recruiters at some point, otherwise all I know is what's on the career page for the GAMMA program. My impression is that it is similar to the regular consultant process except there is a "data science test".
Is an "alternate list" for the first interview from BCG virtually equal to being dinged?

Looks like many heard back on August 9th/10th last year. I don't really know if interview invites for non-AIC, US offices are out.

Applied to LEK and Clearview for LSS rolls for their west coast offices, but havn't heard anything from them just yet. Looks like east coast has for some already

Chicago Bain is sending out interview invites currently (as in I got one 10 minutes ago). Looks like their interview day is August 24. Not sure about other offices. Best of luck to all!

Heard from Bain (08/15), First round interviews on 08/24, South-East offices.
I think we applied to the same office but I didn't get any words from them. Probably I got dinged already. Congrats on the interview invitation!
Rejection from Bain (SF) 8/17 - A note that may be useful to others in the future: interviewed for ADvantage (SF) in May but didn't get it. Because I interviewed for ADvantage, didn't get to attend AIC, and thinking that interviewing for ADvantage so early shot me in the foot for full time, even though they said I should still apply and seemed pretty interested until then. Next year's Bain applicants be cautious about applying to ADvantage – AIC may be a better route to full time unless your interview prep is perfect by May.
Oh well.

Had the same exact situation with BCG and Bridge! I totally agree. 8i wasn't ready for my bridge interview that early and didn't get to go to bridge but then also got rejected before interview for full time.
