Summer Housing NYC - GS

I will be interning at Goldman Sachs this summer. I am a sophomore from a non-target and don't know anyone in NYC. Where would be the best place to live? I want to live as close to 200 West as possible.

NYU dorms are shitty and extremely small and overpriced for their quality. Don't waste your time. Look for anything in FiDi on craigslist and you'll be good. Also, NYU is not THAT close to where GS is. Anywhere else downtown around the Fulton/Wall Street area would be your best bet.

I haven't been able to find anything. Is it pretty easy to find housing on craigslist closer to the move-in date?

You've gotten some pretty poor advice regarding the NYU dorms. Look up NYU Summer Housing and when the application process opens. During the process, you can preference a location and you will likely want the 80 Lafayette St. location which is walking distance from 200 west. NYU will require the least amount of work in finding a place, will probably cost the least since you pay only for the weeks you will be there, and will put you in a building with a number of fellow finance interns so you can find some people to go out with.

NYU Housing is a popular choice for GS summer analysts. You can definitely preference certain dorms so don't worry about it. Lafayette and Alumni are two of the closer / nicer ones - 15 minute commute.

The New School is also very popular. You can walk to GS from there - about 15 minutes.

Per recommendations above, looking for housing in the FiDi / Battery Park City area is also possible. Unless you have a roommate or two, finding a sublet will cost significantly more than nyu / new school housing. Good luck with your search.

lol no - nyu housing most expensive by far - horrible advice choosing lafayette - if u work @ Citi then yes, 15 min walk - GS ~25 min

lol @ alumni being 15 min commute

find a summer sublet in fidi/battery park for ~$1.1k-$1.4k/mo - closer and nicer u'll thank me when u dont have to spend ~20-30 min commuting

What's your deal dude? Do you have an apartment your desperate to sublet for the summer or something? NYU will be cheaper (I think I paid $250/week), but there's a chance you'll get stuck with a shared bedroom.

Finding a summer sublet for $1.1K also seems unlikely, but whatever you say...

Received email saying NYU Summer Housing Application will open the week of February 24th. Am still confused. Should I submit an application? Any advice is highly appreciated.

honestly, as someone who has dormed in nyu housing for the summer before, its a lot less stressful going through nyu housing as opposed to looking through craigslist and stuff. You know what you're going to get.

@"kala9080" I looked into FIT as well but the departure is 11am on August 8 - which is the last day of the internship - so wasn't sure if that was a great idea.

Yea, Me too...I was gonna see if they would let me pick it up after work.....I applied for NYU when they announced no more singles for NonNYU, so even if I get the best option out of my choices, it would be Carlye and thats living with 3 other women for 2 months straight and I dont even have my own room...So I figured the extra 300 would be worth only having to live with 1 other person since I was told that they mostly have doubles and ull most likely get a double unless u request roommates...Idk...Ima make a thread about FIT..I havent been able to find anything on here and other forums and I wanna do my research before I cancel NYU......Idk..thanks

Just shell out the extra few hundo's a month and get a decent place in Tribeca or Battery Park... you're only there for 10 wks

Intern housing in NYC is a joke
