Has anyone attended a superday for Private Banking at JP Morgan? I have one coming up and would greatly appreciate any help.

Overview of the Private Banking JPM Super Day Interview

The interview will likely be 6 interviews. According to our users, the JPM Private Banking super day will consist of mostly fit and behavioral interviews.

You should plan to know the following:

  • Know the stock price and CEO
  • Understand some basic market dynamics and have a market outlook
  • Why You?
  • Why Private Banking?
  • What area of PB do you want to work in?

Also you should note that if you are interviewing for an integrated team vs a products/solutions team - your role will have a strong client focus and therefore they will likely be testing your interpersonal skills vs. quantitative skills.

The interview will be very non-technical. As mentioned earlier, have a good general sense for what's going on with the markets (housing, interest rates, stocks, bonds, etc.)... But don't kill yourself trying to understand all the fundamentals and interplay of the different aspects of the market. They just want to know that you care about wealth management enough to have a fairly good idea of what is going on in the world... Maybe have an article or two you recently read and be able to discuss it... Here's an idea... Recent WSJ article talked about life insurance, and how high net worth individuals are pouring their money into it because of tax savings (something like that).

Also, are you interviewing for an integrated team, or a products/solutions team? If it is an integrated team, there is a very strong client focus, and much less quantitative than there would be with the products/solutions. With the integrated team, they goal is to eventually be able to talk to and acquire clients, which means they want you to be personable... So I guess just be yourself and try not to get too worked up about it.

Probably one of the more laid back Super days you'll have. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Good luck.

Know JPM's stock price at the moment you go to the interviews. Guaranteed to be one of the first questions that they ask and if you're off by a significant amount then they'll just zone out for the rest of the interview. Know why you want to do PB and why JPM above all other firms. There will also be a lot of "tell me about a time..." questions like when you failed or when you came through adversity. Be ready with good stories for these. Also, if you had $10 million how would you invest it?

Pretty basic stuff honestly and if you are personable and prepare for these questions then you should be golden.

When was your interview? I had mine 2 weeks ago. I was supposed to hear back 2 days after interview and never did, so I contatcted HR. Was told to "sit tight, because you're a great candidate, they're still waiting on there decision."....As in, I am an alternate... Tough spot to be in. When was your interview? If you got dinged, you'd probably already know. If it was a few days ago and you haven't heard... Good chance you're an alternate.

alex24nycHey everyone! I am a first year MBA student. I have a final round with JP Morgan Private Banking office coming up for. I am wondering what kind of questions I should expect, and what kind of technical questions they might ask. thanks!

They may ask some banking related questions like, Do you have any idea about our bank policies/ schemes/ charges/ interest rates?

They might ask you if you were a manager, what questions would you ask a prospective client in order to properly gauge their financial goals.

I would definitely recommend Vault Guide to Wealth Management Jobs http://www.vault.com/product.aspx?isbn=9781438167442 . It provides awesome description of what being a private banker is, but surprisingly gives only a few interview questions examples. Interview questions vary from bank to bank. I assume questions of general nature would be asked to the first year MBA student: the most important if you fit the corporate culture or not, and if you have strong client relation skills. For specific questions on wealth management refer to this guide - https://uhnwi.org/interview-questions-wealth-management

When was your phone interview? I had a phone interview 2 Wednesdays ago (for JPMorgan IM not PB) and heard about superday the next night. My superday was this past Wednesday and I heard back Thursday night.

I had my second phone interview last Thursday for a SA position with JP Morgan Private Bank in Chicago with an executive director and an associate.

I followed up with HR a couple days ago and was told that they are extending offers by April. I am not certain if I will even be having an on site super day interview either.

What office did you interview with?

Prospective JPMers, what are fees for the client? How big is an average team, and what is its structure? What are the sorts of things they told you that impressed you / their strengths?

Would be great for guys that have been through the superday to provide an insight, as some of the previous posting on JPM PB are dated.

I am believe that jameshaha is right.

To answer newbie2banking's question, I am most impressed with the JPM folks willingness to communicate and keep me informed during the recruiting process. This has been especially true for their HR team (unlike Morgan Stanley).

If you are at all interested in Asset Management, I would definitely recommend applying next recruiting season.

Take a look at their website if you have not already: http://www.JPMorgan.com/pages/jpmorgan/private_banking.

PB falls under the general AM umbrella, technically. And the title says PB, so it's pretty easy to infer what he's talking about.

That's great, congrats tangerine!

Just so you know jameshaha, many people choose not to give specific information about their professional lives as many professionals do come here to look around. That's by no means a rule or guideline, just something to keep in mind in the event you become a more active user. Anonymity allows you the opportunity to give a clear idea of what goes on at a particular job without fear of repercussions.

That being said, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to hear what your guys' experiences are working for the PB. I'd be really interested to see what your views are regarding the day-to-day of an SA (and for full-time, of course)!

I just had the superday interview with JPM global PB NY today. Non- technicals, just behaviors. Now, as a Vietnamese immigrant, I am praying.

i had my superday yesterday and my first interviewer was asking a ton of technical questions, did not ask me to introduce myself so I don't even know if they know my name. my second interviewer asked lots of behavioral questions and i could tell she liked me. what are the chances you think i get the role, the first guy was straight asking technicals and didn't really get to know me.

I had an amazing friend of mine guide me through the process before turning the offer down. One thing they told me to know is the economy status and specifically the 10 year bond yield. These show at least a min knowledge base
