i received an invite for a 30min video interview, but unsure what to expect.

Good luck on your interview. Did you get any info on what the interview is generally like? I'll keep this thread posted once I have mine.

anyone here interviewing for fundamental research first round with absolutely no stats background or skillset? i dont have any experience with (or affinity for) brainteasers or statistical thinking or math questions

anyone hear back from fundamental research interview? something about a case study?

wdym? i know de shaw's apps are rolling until literally next year, but i was wondering what the interview structure/progress for FR is

ive heard it really depends on your background/major/school, which can be used to gauge how much math or statistics they expect of you. as purely a business major, i was only asked about experiences on my resume, but i know of kids studying econ in other schools who also got some basic brainteasers. it could also depend on your interviewer.

Hi, I was wondering if you could share what the case study for the fundamental research position looks like(not the content maybe just the form). I am very anxious because I have no financial modeling background, and I'm going to have a case study next week. Very much appreciated!!!!

no idea, i haven't gotten anything since applying but i'm not at a target

I've been invited to a virtual interview for the generalist intern position.

Anyone have any tips or experience with this?

Is this for london or newyork? Does everyone get the case study after the 30min vid interview? Is superday the last round after this?

Recruiting at DE Shaw is pretty unconventional - doesn't follow a timeline like all first rounds, then superdays, etc.. your timeline basically depends on their interest in you but good luck :)

I've Heard That They Go Through A reference Stage But Idk, That's Why I Was Wondering If Anyone Had Heard Back Post Superday For Any Of The Groups.

What did you guys submit as a "writing sample"? I submitted an initiating coverage on a stock that I wrote. Did some of you not submit a cover letter?

i just wanna let y'all know that if you haven't heard back from DE Shaw in 24 - 48hrs following your interview, you probably didnt get next round. DE Shaw likes to ghost people first and reject them a lot later which I think is so whack. Wish someone would've told me that so i didnt waste my time worrying about it. Hope this helps :)

honestly theres a 99% chance that you were dinged. When i moved forward i found out minutes after my interview. sometimes it can be hours but def not days. the recruiters responded to my questions in minutes when i went thru the process. it wasn't until i got rejected that it was radio silent for days before getting the generic rejection letter. the recruiter never even responded to my email. really rubbed me the wrong way :/

Could anyone explain to me what a case study is and how to prepare for it? --- I'm from a non-finance, non-business background and is freaking out about the case study... The worst part is probably that I have no idea what to expect. Would it be similar to a consulting firm? Any examples?

Many Thanks!
