Anything For High School?
Is it normal for an investment bank (not necessarily in the bulge bracket) to take in high school students not to do anything official, but to just have them around and observe what goes on? I am a high school junior in New York and was wondering if any place ever did something like that.
HAHAHAHA
I've never heard of such things for high school students, and good thing banks don't do anything like that. Seriously.
The earliest official programs I know of are summer rotational programs for college sophomores.
Maybe if your dad is a CEO of a Fortune 500 company or runs a big hedge fund.
You need to contact the NYCSCA. They run a summer internship program that could be very useful to you. I am an alumnus of the program and might be able to help you out. PM if you're interested.
isn't that the nyc school construction agency?
Man y would u even want to? You can get into i-banking from hard work in college, no need to spend your high school days trying to get in
Some banks have a program called Academy of Finance where high school students can do summer internships. But bascially they work as the assistant's assistant. They file, do expense reports, etc.
Some high school seniors get positions within BBs, mostly through networking.
You should focus on getting good grades and getting into a target university. That's your best shot to get into the industry.
You'd have a better shot of interning at a boutique in your city.
If I lived in San Fransisco, I would have done that. They're liberal as shit there, my brother's buddy did that when he was there.
Seriously.
