Private Capital Advisory - Exit opps, Pay, Top Banks
Hi everyone, I would love to learn more about the exit opps, pay, and top banks in PCA. It seems like quite an interesting place to be.
Look forward to your responses - thank you.

Hi Prospect in IB - Cov, any of these threads helpful:

Exit Ops: FoF, Secondaries PE, Lateral to other parts of the bank, maybe LMM/MM PE (if you're doing single asset GP-leds), etc.
Pay: At top banks similar to M&A groups
Top Banks: Historically, EVR/LAZ/PJT. Lots of new teams/movement with GS/Jefferies/Moelis starting teams so tbd what the landscape will look like in 5 years.
Good overview, I would like to add that the Secondaries groups at EVR and PJT specifically have had higher bonus allocations than many of the M&A teams, at least at the AN/AS level, at the same base salary.
How easy is it to move/lateral to M&A or Restructuring/Debt Advisory?
No.1 is by far Evercore. They have insane deal flow but that means they also have insanely long hours. They have high turnover at the junior level because they all quit after 1-2 years due to the burnout.
I also heard the Secondary Advisory team (Private Capital Advisory) at Evercore is their highest paid team that earn more than their M&A teams.
This is correct on comp. Your reason for turnover isn’t true
At a high level, what is/are the reason(s)?
Thanks for confirming! Yeah these are just rumours I've heard so I wasn't 100% sure I just heard the hours are very long and that their juniors end up requesting to move teams within Evercore or leaving but yeah just rumours.
Any idea what the hours in that team is like?
I don't know much about Campbell Lutyens but I heard they're very strong in the space but heard they are also a sweatshop where you'll work very long hours.
Any other opinions on exits in this space?
EVR/JEFF/PJT in top 3 for GP-Led
Curious to hear about whether it would be smart to start a career in this area? I'm not sure whether I want to do PE or HF or such down the line yet.
I heard PCA is a good space and in a growing market. Looks like comp is solid at many firms, but what are hours like? Is it the same workload as IB causing people to quit, or because the work isn’t interesting?

What kind of technicals you gain from PCA?
