Turning down full time offer

I am not planning on accepting a full-time offer from the firm I'm currently interning at. What do I do now? Just start applying elsewhere and networking? My internship experience includes: 1. LO AM 2. Sell side M&A 3. Management Consulting

I think you really need to ask yourself why.

If you hate the work, it won't be better at another shop, especially in the junior ranks.

If it's more cultural, network your ass off. You may be asked why you didn't just take the offer from your internship, as they may not believe you got a return offer - so have an airtight answer ready for that.

I worked at a different bank during my sophomore summer and loved it. Just didn’t get a return offer there because I was only a sophomore. My decision not to accept a return here has more to do with this specific firm than with the industry in general.

What do you want to do instead? Not a great time to be looking for a FT role given most every firm is slowing hiring and new grads are low on the list. You'd be better off accepting and trying to lateral to what you want to do after 6-12 months.

If it's cultural or firm specific, stick it out for now and try to move later on but you could be in a really bad spot in 3-4 months with few options. FT recruiting is a shit show even in the best of years.
