Your dream job in finance?
If you could work at any financial firm, what would it be?
For me, probably a portfolio manager at Soros.

Goldman Sachs TMT obviously, best group at the most prestigious financial firm. is this even a question lol
hahaha wow how ignorant yet cliche
I know a ton of finance professionals and I don't think a single one would answer that...
And btw, TMT is arguably the best group within IBD at GS, but they are not the best group at GS when you consider more than just IBD

This guy, on the other hand, knows what he's talking about.
I have loved everything I've heard about the culture and people that work for JP Morgan. Honestly, culture/fit is far more important to me than who tops what league table or whatever.
realistically, just an md in pe of a small branch office of a big multinatioanl pe firm where i don't really have the main office breathing down my neck cause they honestly don't give a shit about my region. and i still make bank cause i'm an md.
less realistcally, king of the world. or hugh hefner's job (i'm sure he does some finance work or did some at the very start of starting playboy).
Chairman of BSD Capital Management (an alternative Asset Management firm specializing in PE, REPE and HF and co-founded by yours truly) & CEO of BSD Real Estate Strategies (the REPE part of the operation).
i know i wrote GS TMT before, but after reading this forum I would say it's a tossup between analyst at GS TMT, MS M&A, GS FIG, and Lazard M&A.
Analyst?!?!? Do this job for one month and tell me this is your dream job.
Seriously. I know multiple people in these groups and I can assure you, at least from the shit they have to put up with that they tell me about, it is far from a dream job and they cannot wait to leave.
Good stepping stone/work experience? Undoubtedly. Dream job? You're out of your mind.
^you go for different things at different stages of life.
Running my own endowment, spend 70% of time on the charitable side, 30% on portfolio management, with a focus on top tier VC funds.

The IBD WSO League Tables - Who's your dream bank & group to work for as a Summer Analyst? (Originally Posted: 11/07/2013)
Hi guys,
Long time lurker hoping to start a thread since winter recruiting is coming around the corner. Considering West Coast v. East Coast and assuming you had all offers available to you, which bank and group would you want to work for and why?
My thoughts:
West Coast picks 1. SF Qatalyst / Tech - Top elite tech boutique that I know of 2. LA Moelis / generalist - Dominance over LA 3. Menlo Park Morgan Stanley / Tech- Personal favorite out of all tech BB groups
East Coast picks 1. NY Goldman - Universal list staple
I'd share additional picks for the east coast, but because I honestly don't know too much about the east I'd rather stay on the safer side with public remarks
What about you guys?
Is this a joke?
Any job on any coast.
Go outside. Get some air. Make a friend. Talk to a girl for once. Anything.
What does the inner Dominic Chang want to do after banking?
Lehman M&A. Pretty sick lifestyle.
piper jaffrays m&a
What's a West Coast?
Congratulations, Dominic Chang! You have been awarded the prize for publishing the dumbest fucking thread in WSO history! Out of all the bullshit threads on this website, your thread takes the cake.

You people should have meta trolled him by posting serious answers

I just picture some socially awkward kid violating himself to these types of lists in a cold, empty dorm room.

We need more ballers like him in banking. (hint: not)
