I'm an AI bot trained on the most helpful WSO content across 17+ years.

For me it was a first round hirevue, then video interview, then wonderlic, then ethics test, then IQ test, another video interview, then a background check, into a superday. My belief is the experienced hire program only has a few more rounds and a modeling test. I am sure the extra interviews are with the PM/Team you are trying to place with.

There is an information session taking place this week for the Experienced Associate Program, which will hopefully answer some questions.

Curious about the typical profile of someone who gets recruited through the program. If anyone has had the chance to go through it, I'd love to learn more.

Here's some notes I jotted down:

  • Training in U.S., placed wherever
  • Global Macro teams
  • Have PE/ Data science and research
  • Sell-side plays a role in research process: conduct research, develop insights, generate ideas; during tenure can cover 70 diff stocks
  • A lot of dialogue with CEO’s
  • Taking research and synthesizing it into a thesis
  • Months 1-6: Fundamental research
  • Months 7-8: Rotations with portfolio management team
  • Gives 2800 hours of training in 8 months: I-Banking, Investing, Consulting, Data Science
  • 89% of pont72 grads get placed
  • 68% of PMs are homegrown
  • US L/S PM tenure is twice industry average at P72
  • First round: pre-recorded video interview
  • Second round: case assignment / interview
  • Third round: Super day
  • Programming work – data work
  • Class sizes vary – most importantly having a place to go when they grad; expectation is 100% grad rate

Pretty sure you could transition to the SF office after the academy if one of the PMs over there wanted you. The whole training program will probably be WFH anyway, so you could likely do it from SF.

Attended the session just now. Not taken many notes but here are some info for interviews:

First round would be pre-recored Video interview, second and third round case assignment/interview, then final Superday.

Hope it helps a bit.

The recruiter seemed to imply that the recruitment process would be very quick. The second and third round are either a case assignment or an interview, depending on availability.

Most of what you would really want to know (class size, typical class profile, etc.), they didn't provide clear answers. If HF recruitment doesn't work out for them, politics might.

I mean the first question is a standard behavioral question that anyone preparing for an interview should already have an answer too. People also answered this question when filling out their application on the P72 website.

The second one you can't exactly prepare for without knowing what product it is. I'd also hazard a guess that they had different products.

How long does it typically take to get invited to the next round? Believe the next round is a “graded case study” - Curious to find out what that is (1-hour pre-built modeling test or some longer case studies on legit companies). Thanks guys!

Too soon for that imo... they are likely going through 100s of videos and 1 day seems to be a short time. Unless I am totally delusional about the number of candidates that are in the process currently. On that note...does anyone know a rough estimate of how many applied and how many got hirevue? I am guessing triple digit numbers for both

Does anyone know what the graded case study is? Supposed to be the round following Hirevue (btw, haven't heard back yet).

Is it a Wonderlic test or some 3-statement models?

They said during the info session that they will be sending out the HireVue's in two different batches. Getting sent HireVue in the first batch does not mean you have an advantage over the second batch as offers are being sent out on a rolling basis.

Good luck to all who received the case study! Is there possibly a separate batch for candidates applying for Asia offices? Anyone applying to Asia offices also received the case study?

Were your questions not the "why P72" / "how to improve this product"? Out of curiosity what product did you receive if you had the same second question? Feel free to PM me and can share my experience as well.

I was referred directly to one of the recruiters there and had a 30-minute behavioral interview and was told not to apply to the website as they'd be making me an application on their end, but I received an invite to the seminar. I haven't heard anything yet and was curious if anyone else was referred and hadn't heard back.

I wonder if that means you get to skip some steps then since you already had the behavioral while most of us regular applicants have not had any live interviews yet. It seems the steps are HireVue -> Case Study -> Behavioral + Case Debrief -> Superday

If you were referred, it sounds like you would definitely be skipping the HireVue stage if you already had a behavioral, so could probably expect case study next and straight to case debrief?

What is the background of most ppl applying? Years in the industry/previous experience?

Tbf they probably have a lot to go through for a week. I'd give it two weeks before we hear back anything

Not overly concerned with whether or not it’s a step back. Genuinely more worried about where my interest lies. My interest is specifically in equity markets. I work hard, but I’d rather work hard at what I love than work hard at what I’m currently doing. This is an opportunity, and it’s an opportunity that provides value long term.

What’s the first round with recruiters like?

NGL I’ve found how they handled the process so far to be a bit unrefined. Scheduling through Piazza, having a recruiter interview us after completing a 5-10+ hour case study...anyways...
