William Blair SA 2021
Starting a topic for William Blair Summer Analyst 2021 since I did not see one. I was wondering if anyone applied for their internship but did not get the Suited Survey request?

finsihed the suited, haven’t heard back
How many questions did you complete from the quantitative/attention to detail section? Curious to know if I've completely bombed it or not
I bombed it too, I really don't think it matters at all
Same
Anyone have any idea of when we should hear back/when they are gonna send out first rounds? Are they gonna do targets first?
I didn't get the Suited survey request either? Where would the Suited survey request show up?
They email it to you after you submit the application. What is your GPA?
Phone screens starting in May, targets first then everyone else. Hiring is hopefully going to be wrapped up by June, unless Corona changes that. Source- work here
Is this consistent across all offices? I know the virus has been shaking things up for a lot of firms.
Initially it was supposed to be, but honestly I don't know much about the process outside of my process and it could definitely be impacted by Coronavirus. My office is still on the schedule I posted
what type of questions did you guys see on the Suited?
Charlotte first rounds are out
went to its virtual info yesterday, they will start interview in May. Idk how Charlotte is out.
Anyone have insights on if Blair is doing guaranteed FT offers this year / how they are navigating 2020 SA? I think you can get a lot of insight out of how a bank treats their interns by how they are handling Coronavirus. What's blair doing?
They delayed program and shortened to 4 weeks virtual. All interns given FT offers and a month of pay for the summer.

has anyone received invitation for SF coffee chat yet?
Not yet - told I would after a recent call, but that was a couple weeks back
Had mine yesterday. Was told that first rounds will be in a few weeks and superdays in early June.
Has anyone heard back about first-rounds for Chicago or Boston after completing suited assessment
are internships only for banking? or do they release more applications for asset management and wealth management?
If you get selected for a coffee chat, are you more likely to get a first round?
Got selected for San Fran Coffee Chats got the email this morning. Has anyone done virtual coffee chats for other firms? I'm not really sure what to expect. Will it be technical, behavioral, or more like an information interview? Any guidance would be appreciated.
I got dinged a couple days back, so I'd treat it like an interview. but how an analyst I talked to made it seem to be, it's informational, but a bit more formal.
^^ what does getting a coffee chat mean?
bump
Are applications for NY out yet?
NY doesn't take summer analysts
got a Boston coffee chat invite today. completed the suited assessment quite some time ago, maybe a month ago.
what is a coffee chat entail? had a intro call with an analyst this morning, but I asked most of the questions.
I mentioned in another comment that I received a SF Office Coffee Chat but did not receive an invite for Boston Coffee Chats today. Do you or anyone else know if that means I'm out of the Boston process or the two offices recruiting efforts overlap?
How long after your coffee chat have people heard back from Blair?
2 to 3 weeks after coffee chat will be 1st rounds
Coffee chats are only available for Boston and SF so don't worry about not getting one for Charlotte or Chicago
what does coffee chat entail?
what are these coffee chats? Are they only if you havent talked with people at the bank yet?
bump
Since nobody is answering the questions that everyone wants to know, and some douche is MS'ing people for asking what to expect: the coffee chat is a first-round filter. Mine was for Boston. You're unlikely to get one without networking unless you're at one of their target schools or something; it's the employees that forward your résumé who determine if you get a coffee chat, and they're giving them to the candidates that they're interested in.
Mine was relatively laid-back, but a lot of my friends said theirs were like a rough first round. I was asked some technicals, but they weren't extremely hard. They want to see if you'll fit in and if you have a passion for WB. I don't feel afraid telling people this because, like I mentioned, it was very fit-focused and less hard on the technical side; anyone who prepares well for interviews in the standard way will breeze through it, and my insight won't change that.
Appreciate the honesty man. Did any of your friends by chance do one for the San Francisco office? I only networked w Boston but got a SF Coffee Chat and I'm trying to figure out why/what to expect.
Hello friend. No, I don’t know anyone that did SF; I’d assume it would be similar, but have some tech-based questions. I networked with a ton of SF firms and they all ask similar questions - know why you want to be at William Blair, probably know why you want to do tech/be in SF, etc. I’d assume it’s similar to interviews, in that your process will be largely determined by who interviews you. Don’t stress too much, just be yourself and know your answers to the basic questions. If you don’t get a good interviewer or someone you click with, at the end of the day, take a deep breath, and continue to network with other firms. You’ll strike it big somewhere if you just try.
Any updates for anyone?
Did a coffe chat last Thursday for SF office. No first rounds yet.
Does Blair sponsor?
.
just to clarify, is WB's SF office a tech-focused group? I applied to the SA 2021 program for WB in SF, but it never clarified whether it was generalist or tech. I assumed TMT but I want to be sure. Thanks!
Yes it is a tech focused group. They are having coffee chats right now to filter for first round
gotchu. Thanks for the clarification!
Are the SF, Chicago, and Boston recruiting running on the same timelines and dates?
Coming from a non-target, I did not have a "coffee chat", but spoke to an analyst and associate in Chicago, and was asked for my resume to "Get it to the right people." Should I expect that to be sufficient to be contacted for a first round? Or should I continue to network since I did not get the coffee chat invite everyone else is mentioning.
Did you submit an application on the website? I almost gave up on WB earlier this month because I saw all these people getting coffee chats and I assumed I was too late, but I sent my application and heard back a week later. You might still have time, though I'd get to work sending that app in ASAP.
Sorry I misinterpreted your post. Yea, I would definitely reach out to people (linkedin stalk them at the offices you're interested in) and see what's up. If there's no response from them nor the analyst/associate you spoke with, I would just move on to another firm as I think they're tryna round out recruitment soon. there's a lotta other MM banks as well as your typical EB and BB and places to check out, so wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket.
rejected after first round from charlotte.
First rounds for SF are out
.
No not at all. They take a bit of time after a coffee chat to send out first rounds. For most EBs, don't get discouraged. Unless they are really small, they still ahve a lot of recruiting esp with this COVID
first rounds for boston are out as well
Do you know if they're running different processes for targets and non-targets?
i do not know. I am a non-target but have been in constant communication with HR and several members of the Boston team.
has anybody had a first round yet? Would like to know what it was like in terms of questions/style. Thanks
have a first round on zoom today for Chi
mostly behavioral or mostly technical? any memorable questions in particular that they asked you?
about 40 minutes mainly behavioral - but like scripted behaviorals - not really conversational lol - easy techs, kind of drilled down on LBO and almost got hit w a paper LBO but the interview assumed I knew it bc I have a PE on the resume (wouldn't overlook it coming tho)
are you diversity or at a target by any chance?
no and no
what was first round like? more technical or behavioral?
more behavorials - got like 4 techs
any other first rounds out for Chi? Im nontarget, nondiversity, and talked with 6 people in the office and havent heard anything
Haven't heard anything yet either
also nontarget and nondiversity and haven't heard anything either
is it too late to apply?
1st Round Comment Chain: Has anyone heard back yet?
Following.
Heard back for a first round or after a first round? Networked well in Chi and haven't heard anything
Haven't heard anything. Would think Friday or Monday earliest
any updates?
Had first round Tuesday. Still have not heard anything.
Which office - target or non - target?
Chicago office
got FR 8 days ago, heard back for SD this Thursday.
Which office is this?
got superday
When is your superday
I believe superdays were this past week, and are still going through next week. This could just be for targets however.
I heard it’s close for the 2021 class already
pretty sure this is false
ya this is false lol
.
When did you interview and when did you hear back? I interviewed Wednesday and haven't heard anything yet
Interviewed in the last few days and got superday email on the same day as interview for SF
i interviewed last week and got the interview a few days later
When is your superday?
superdays are this week (happening throughout)
also, just a side note, what does MS mean on this website (not Morgan Stanley)? I see the acronym across forums and have no clue what it means. I can guess from context its bad but have no clue beyond that.
Anyone attend the information session and know how much they take for each office? How many for sf?
I believe SF and Boston are both 3-4, and Chicago is something like 60.
the SF boston count is false lol they take more than that
Chicago hires 60? can someone confirm
Believe superdays for Chicago are later next week. first rounds wrapping up if not already over.
Was told that first rounds for Chi will be happening throughout June. Anyone else hear the same?
applied like 2 months ago for IB 2021 SA Chicago. I go to a non target but have a 4.0 GPA so I was expecting to hear something. completed suited assessment but haven’t heard anything at all.
has anyone heard back from Boston office regarding SD?
My application disappeared on their portal?
nope. had first round last week
anyone hear anything?
When did they say the last first round was
Has anyone heard back from Superdays for Chicago location?
nope
I know a few targets have heard back. Not really sure outside of a few folks I know.
Edit: Have you already had your superday and are waiting to hear back?
Yeah I think targets were earlier. I recently had mine and I'm a non target school
Yeah - got an offer which was extended to me at 1 pm next day (24 hours after)
SF SD interviews include case study and heavy technicals
lol
source?
lol
I have a superday coming up for SA2022 in the SF office. Could I shoot you a dm and learn more about how to best prepare? Thanks so much for your help.

I would hope not. I am also nontarget, and networked hard with the chicago office, but havent heard anything. from others on this forum, it sounds like WB chicago has given out some interviews, but a lot have not happened yet.
nontarget as well feeling particularly shitty. Applied way back in May and completed the Suited Survey and everything. Haven't heard anything yet. Also applied to CS and haven't heard anything. I mean I get that I go to a real nontarget but I have a 4.0GPA going into junior year so I was hoping that would at least warrant me an interview. This is real disheartening

Has anyone from a non-target receive a informational call from the Chicago office?
When did you receive the email notification for the call
yes, and SD
any non targets heard back from Chicago office after their super day?
Anyone heard back from SF superday on Thursday?
no but i saw someone post friday that some of their friends got offers. they changed their comments to "lol" after
and lol my bad for doing that but i hate when ppl ask me source - ppl can choose to believe me or not lol not gonna make a bilbiography for them
ya i got an offer from the thursday superday Sf. i said it was my friends to hide my identity but i guess at this point doesn't matter
how long after the the super day did you get the offer ?
I just got invited to participate in a "virtual interview" with the Chicago office. Can anyone speak to their experience for these - is it more behavioral or technical?
Any comments/advice would be appreciated!

ye I heard this morning. Target and a good amount - Did you ?
Any news on Boston office regarding superdays?
I have not heard back yet. Has anyone ?
I have not heard back yet either
Just got rejection email
from superday or first round?
First - Boston
any non targets hear back after super day for Chicago
Curious as well. I believe a few targets have, but no clue about non-targets.
I am non-target and heard back 24 hours after
