Also Blankfein. Not what I expected!

Warren Buffett - The Patient Investor...I said give nothing away, so I'm not sure why I would be compared to the guy who wants to give everything away...

Once I did bad and that I heard ever. Twice I did good and that I heard never.

Bullet-Tooth Tony

Jamie Dimon... I'll take that. Particularly if I can look that sharp in 20 years.

Seconded, and have daughters that look like that too ...

This is pretty great, but lots of Buffets out there.

Maximum effort.

Soros, always wanted to be a pirate when I grew up

Mr. Buffett. There are much, MUCH worse people to be compared to, I'll be fine with that.

I got Buffett too. I think all of us who did are either destined for greatness or

in it 2 win it

I got Jamie Dimon. totally ok with that one

Also, I just wanted to say thanks for recognizing me as a 'Wall Street Baller' despite all of the adversity over the past several years. That being said, with company like Bernie Madoff, Jordan Belfort, and Jamie Dimon, I'm not sure if I should be honored or insulted. Whatever, I'll take it as a compliment.

I'm not quite sure how that is implied in my statement, I was simply noting a fact. It's entirely illogical to assume that just because I, or someone else scored like someone famous in an online quiz, that I will eventually be as rich as him. Besides, Omaha is the last place I'd want to live.

Or, this could just be a case of someone needing to invent a way to convey connotation and tone of voice over the internet.

Black JackBill Gross sits comfortably in Newport Beach so...very far from Wall Street (in a literal sense).
Buffett is in Omaha...

Baller? If you can't own a mega yacht then you probably aren't the biggest baller on the street. That precludes Wall Street CEOs. If you aren't on top of a mega Hedge Fund or PE firm get the fuck out.

Would be great to run bracketology (like what ESPN is doing with athletes right now). Divisions would be easy (advisory/banking, s&t, traditional AM, PE/HF), nominating 16 in each to start might to tough though.

"ExcelMasterFlex" I thought for sure this would be a LaVar Ball thread. Got to say I'm slightly disappointed.

Actually I am glad if finally did NOT contain something to do with LaVar Ball.

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

too much effort, imo

Not sure if troll or insecure college kid. To answer your question though...

The hottest clubs in Manhattan/Miami/Whatever usually won't run you more than $1200-1500 on average (not including tax+tip) for a group of 3-4 guys. This will include about 3 bottles depending on what you buy.

No one cares about finance folks in L.A. That city is dominated by entertainment and media.

As for NYC, analysts and associates are not living like "ballers." You're one in a million, a peon in a city full of wealth successful people.

How can you justify blowing a few percentage points of your comp, whether it be up your nose or on M&B, in just one night? Simple, you can't; so don't. Now gtfo.

Having been to LA, I can easily say finance is nowhere near entertainment. Hell, even in NYC, who do you think is going to get more attention a movie star or an MD of a bank?

"Generally, that's more than a few grand on a given night."

Wait, what? I believe this has a lot to do with your confusion. Perhaps combined with an assumption that it's happening more frequently than it actually is.

Most people in finance who can comfortably go out and blow thousands of dollars in a night on booze without batting an eye are old enough that they find stuff like that retarded. Or, at a bare minimum, their wives do.

This x1000. Only a jackass junior analyst feels cool doing that and anyone who's worked hard enough for $2k to be a drop in a bucket is probably not entertained by sitting in a booth pretending to be important. And having UBuffalo grads who became promoters send 6's to their table to cop their booze.

Plus, my fiancee would kill me.

The only people in finance I know who spend money like that are either on an expense account or more frequently someone else's expense account, e.g. brokers and other sell side people schmoozing to clients.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.

Just my .02 after going through the recruiting process this year and talking to a bunch of analysts about bank/group culture. It sounds like VPs and a few MDs will sponsor these big nights on the town to reward analysts/associates for their hard work. A couple analysts specifically said that some MDs in the office will just give a VP a blank check and tell him to take out the junior guys.
