Which Wall Street Baller Are You?
Are you a patient investor, a rule bender, a total fraud or maybe the survivor?
Take the WSO quiz and find out now.
Share on Facebook:
I am Warren Buffet - The Patient Investor
I am Bernard Madoff - The Total Fraud
I am Michael Milken - The Rule Bender
I am Dick Fuld - The Gorilla CEO
I am Jamie Dimon - The Survivor
I am Lloyd Blankfein - The Sith Lord
I am Jordan Belfort - The Flameout
Jordan Belfort? I could do Jordan Belfort ;)
the unemployed one
Nice quiz ! When asked, "Where are you most at home" In a strip club or In the boardroom, I had a hard time choosing.
In an ideal world, they would be one in the same.
Nooooooo
I got Lloyd Blankfein.
Hahaha, you didn't get yourself...must be something wrong with the quiz.
I got Buffet - no way am I going to be eating at Dairy Queen every day to save a few bucks.
I got Soros - was hoping Milken :)
Ken Lewis, eww wtf
Also Blankfein. Not what I expected!
Milken. Even in bogus online polls I'm old school.
I am Jamie Dimon. Not too shabby.
Steve Cohen should be on that list
Honestly, if given the choice, I would have answered a lot of these questions as "none of the above" - especially question 1, question 5 and question 9.
For what it's worth, I received "Warren Buffet"
I got "Warren Buffet", I wouldn't spend as little as him though if I had that amount of money!
This is awesome, props for making this
Buffet.
Buffett, twice. With healthy doses of Dimon and Soros.
Buffett, eww.
Buffett myself...not surprising :-)
George Soros... not bad.
Warren Buffett - The Patient Investor...I said give nothing away, so I'm not sure why I would be compared to the guy who wants to give everything away...
Jamie Dimon... I'll take that. Particularly if I can look that sharp in 20 years.
This is pretty great, but lots of Buffets out there.
Belfort
I got Warren Buffett - The Patient Investor.
Buffet...I was gunning for Soros.
warren... too much buffet around here that system needs to get fixed
Soros, always wanted to be a pirate when I grew up
Buffett...as expected!
Mr. Buffett. There are much, MUCH worse people to be compared to, I'll be fine with that.
I got Buffett too. I think all of us who did are either destined for greatness or
Belfort - suck on that you all Warrenites
Fun quiz. Thanks for putting this one together.
Dick
The irony is that I currently work in money markets
Lloyd Blankfein - perfect
I would imagine most of main street doesn't have a problem with Buffet. I wonder what an article about 'big bad wall street' would say about damn near 50% being deemed as "Buffet" material haha
Got Warren, was hoping for Anastasios “Tommy” Belesis
Ha I got Ken Lewis and I used to go to GA State for a while.
You should think about a new line of work. Just sayin'.
Ha why do you say that?
@Kassad : Obviously.
Buffett... but where the fuck is Carl Icahn?
I should put my results on my resume to stand out right? I want potential employers to really understand who I am as a person.
George Soros!
Pretty glad with my results.
Dimon - not too shabby. Wanted to be Milken.
Ben Bernanke...Ill take it.
jim simons please
I got Jamie Dimon. totally ok with that one
@andylouis @wallstreetoasis.com
Also, I just wanted to say thanks for recognizing me as a 'Wall Street Baller' despite all of the adversity over the past several years. That being said, with company like Bernie Madoff, Jordan Belfort, and Jamie Dimon, I'm not sure if I should be honored or insulted. Whatever, I'll take it as a compliment.
In fairness, you are more likely to be mixed in with Madoff and Belfort. Not Dimon.
Anyone get Madoff?
Me. Wasn't expecting that.
I got Warren Buffet. Spot on.
am i the only one happy to get blankfein?
WTF, I got Buffett. I am anything but Buffett.
Warren.
Buffet. Not my style. Oh well.
Lloyd Blankfein. Much flattered
I'm 47.5% The Oracle, 15.8% Dimon, 7.9% Soros, 7.9% Ken Lewis, and 5.9% Blankfein.
(pay attention to details son)
15% Madoff
The percentages represent the proportion of WSO which got those results, not the proportion of your answers attributed to those guys.
mm OK. Thanks for letting me know.
Soros
Warren Buffett - The Patient Investor
I got Warren Buffet. IIRC, he has the highest net worth of all the choices, yes?
I'm not quite sure how that is implied in my statement, I was simply noting a fact. It's entirely illogical to assume that just because I, or someone else scored like someone famous in an online quiz, that I will eventually be as rich as him. Besides, Omaha is the last place I'd want to live.
Or, this could just be a case of someone needing to invent a way to convey connotation and tone of voice over the internet.
Damn, I'm Blankfein.
Soros on this the day of Tuesday.

imo Bill gross trumps all. lol.
Jamie Dimon
You have to be joking right?
Bill Gross sits comfortably in Newport Beach so...very far from Wall Street (in a literal sense).
Bankerella
Me.
Icahn, Einhorn, Loeb, Simons...more or less in that order...
Who is making the most in terms of just regular advisory banking? Group heads at the BBs/boutiques?
schwarzman, ackman, blankfein, dimon, icahn, kravis, buffett, einhorn
Chase Coleman
ken griffin in chicago
this thread is hilarious
Gundlach.
Baller? If you can't own a mega yacht then you probably aren't the biggest baller on the street. That precludes Wall Street CEOs. If you aren't on top of a mega Hedge Fund or PE firm get the fuck out.
Would be great to run bracketology (like what ESPN is doing with athletes right now). Divisions would be easy (advisory/banking, s&t, traditional AM, PE/HF), nominating 16 in each to start might to tough though.
Why do topics like this exist?

So it's commonly said that in the financial industry (probably every other as well) people who bring huge amounts of money to their firms get to do whatever the fuck they want. What are the craziest things you've seen or heard from these type of ballers?
I thought for sure this would be a LaVar Ball thread. Got to say I'm slightly disappointed.
Actually I am glad if finally did NOT contain something to do with LaVar Ball.
Stay in your lane.
Pretty sure MDs are allowed to leave work early on Fridays - cant confirm

They get one shitty idea then take 6 months just to bake it
Consulting is like banking for females, not balling
I think it's a solid gig if you're not the banking 'type'.
How are people in Finance considered ballers in major cities? (NYC, LA, etc..) (Originally Posted: 02/17/2013)
I'm struggling to see how bankers can afford a model and bottle type of lifestyle working and living in NYC. Generally, that's more than a few grand on a given night. It cant be done off of their salary, and if its from their bonus, its a good portion of it since after taxes, a banker will only see about 50% of it.
Analysts dont.
Not sure if troll or insecure college kid. To answer your question though...
The hottest clubs in Manhattan/Miami/Whatever usually won't run you more than $1200-1500 on average (not including tax+tip) for a group of 3-4 guys. This will include about 3 bottles depending on what you buy.
No one cares about finance folks in L.A. That city is dominated by entertainment and media.
As for NYC, analysts and associates are not living like "ballers." You're one in a million, a peon in a city full of wealth successful people.
How can you justify blowing a few percentage points of your comp, whether it be up your nose or on M&B, in just one night? Simple, you can't; so don't. Now gtfo.
Having been to LA, I can easily say finance is nowhere near entertainment. Hell, even in NYC, who do you think is going to get more attention a movie star or an MD of a bank?
.
"Generally, that's more than a few grand on a given night."
Wait, what? I believe this has a lot to do with your confusion. Perhaps combined with an assumption that it's happening more frequently than it actually is.
Most people in finance who can comfortably go out and blow thousands of dollars in a night on booze without batting an eye are old enough that they find stuff like that retarded. Or, at a bare minimum, their wives do.
This x1000. Only a jackass junior analyst feels cool doing that and anyone who's worked hard enough for $2k to be a drop in a bucket is probably not entertained by sitting in a booth pretending to be important. And having UBuffalo grads who became promoters send 6's to their table to cop their booze.
Plus, my fiancee would kill me.
The only people in finance I know who spend money like that are either on an expense account or more frequently someone else's expense account, e.g. brokers and other sell side people schmoozing to clients.
no one in this thread lifts
Today was my cheat day, I tried to replicate what The Rock ate...
http://www.grantland.com/blog/hollywood-prospectus/post/_/id/58828/the-…
Didn't even come close.
Just my .02 after going through the recruiting process this year and talking to a bunch of analysts about bank/group culture. It sounds like VPs and a few MDs will sponsor these big nights on the town to reward analysts/associates for their hard work. A couple analysts specifically said that some MDs in the office will just give a VP a blank check and tell him to take out the junior guys.
None of you lift. And none of you are crushing it, GOML hoez
