Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about Evercore's Summer Analyst (SA) recruiting process:

  1. Application Timeline: Evercore typically opens applications for Summer Analyst positions well in advance. For example, in previous years, applications opened months before the summer program, with deadlines often falling in late spring or early summer. Keep an eye on their portal and apply early, as applications are often reviewed on a rolling basis.

  2. Recruitment Process:

    • First Round (R1): This usually involves a mix of behavioral and technical questions. Be prepared to discuss your resume, motivations for investment banking, and basic financial concepts.
    • Superday (SD): If you pass the first round, you'll move on to the Superday, which is a more intensive interview process. It typically includes multiple interviews with senior bankers, focusing on technical skills, problem-solving, and cultural fit.
  3. Preparation Tips:

    • Technical Skills: Brush up on financial modeling, valuation methods (DCF, LBO, Comps), and accounting principles. WSO's financial modeling courses and interview prep guides are excellent resources.
    • Behavioral Questions: Practice common questions like "Why Evercore?" or "Tell me about a time you worked in a team." Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.
    • Networking: Reach out to current analysts or alumni from your school who work at Evercore. Building connections can give you insights into the process and help you stand out.
  4. Competitiveness: Evercore is known for its highly competitive recruiting process, given its reputation as a top-tier boutique investment bank. Make sure your application is polished, and your interview skills are sharp.

Good luck! You've got this—time to crush it like a pro! 🐒

but on a real note js be prepped on cases + everything rx you’ve done including techs and readings

Controversial

EVR Incoming FT EmailIncoming EVR FT NY M&A - will share some advice since I was in your shoes not too long ago.

For M&A, interviews are released by school and in batches if you’re coming from a target/semi-target, so don’t stress if you haven’t heard back yet. Interviews will continue rolling through the end of January with supers starting mid-Jan.

I interviewed with several banks (GS/Ardea/M. Klein), and I can confidently say EVR was the most technical process. The structure was 2 first-round interviews, followed by a Superday with 4 30-minute interviews. One thing to note about EVR is that they tend to repeat questions from previous years, so if you can get access to past interview questions, definitely use them.

I personally used Capital Interview Experts and WSP for prep, and found CIE to be especially accurate - many of the questions I was asked showed up verbatim

Happy to answer any specific questions, and best of luck to everyone recruiting!

hey could I dm you about the M Klein interview? I know there's no networking for them so wonder if you know anything about how their r1 process works when you got it last year

Sure - I’ll reply here so others can benefit as well:

They only send postings to target/core schools.

The process when I went through it was a first round followed by an in-person superday. They used to do in-person first rounds as well, but those are now virtual/phone. The superday consists of 4-5 30 min interviews with senior people at the firm.

Happy to answer any specific questions!

Oh damn. I thought the turnaround was supposed to be fast - maybe they're slow this year.

Anyway, was it hard? What did they ask? I didn't get a 1R, so I'd appreciate any advice on what to practice/focus on if I get one somewhere else.

they already gave out 1R's last week and are onto SPDs - friend got SPD for next week

I could be wrong and it could be very group dependent, but Evercore hasn’t struck me as the type for discriminate based on target/non-target. At least for their SF offices they are very merit-seeking. Maybe NYC is very different?

MP offices come out at the same time for all, nyc not so much, their core school list is not very similar to the normal target school list (of course there’s heavy overlap but a lot of big names not in it), and core does run first

Are we cooked if we haven't heard for r1 yet? also does it come out in waves for school. top target + 4.0 + top HF soph summer + networked with entire recruiting team

Just had my 2nd zoom screen, how long does it take to hear back for spd if selected?

Also, any NESCACs out there who have had superdays yet?

Y'all think I'm cooked if I didn't receive r1 yet? I'm a semi target but I got a referral from an analyst at the team early jan and haven't heard from him since.

jennyd_ng

anyone knows when I should hear back after SPD? Just did SPD for PCA on Tuesday and have yet to hear back

how long was the wait between r2 and spd for you?
